Yay non-scientific polling!

I'm sure someone will complain about their particular nuanced answer not being represented.

I think it's a pretty shitty trailer, but I get why Paramount went with it. I'm still on board for the film though, and remain certain that later trailers will fill me with much anticipation for the film.

It has put a big ol' grin on my face every time I've watched it!

Wow, explosions, chase scenes , crew in danger and motorcycle chases ! JJ Abrams really understands what makes Star Trek great. I can't take his movies any more. If you want to watch real TOS some of the the fan films such as Star Trek Continues are often superior to the JJ Abrams dreck.

It has gotten me pretty excited for the movie.

Arguably too excited since I won't get to see it for another seven months.

Nuts.

Superior? Sure, if you like watching people cos play. It was neat once or twice.

If they're allowed to continue. Part of me wonders if, when the new series starts, CBS/Paramount may start issuing cease and desist orders. I hope that it doesn't happen though.

Anyway, as for the trailer, I liked it and I do think I'll like the new film. I can find at least something to like about any of the Star Trek films or episodes.

Ehhhh. I liked it. Didn't really love it, but it worked well enough. It didn't really change how much I want to go see the movie, but it was a decent enough trailer. Certainly by the standards of trailers for summer blockbusters it was pretty good, though not without faults.

My prediction will be 70-75% pro and the remainder con.

That's usually how polls here turn out.

That's a great matter of opinion, and that's cool if you'd rather stay in the 1960s, but I like modern interpretations of science fiction, and I love TOS. With the new films, I get both.

Well if you think "No I didn't like the trailer, but I have no idea whether or not I will like the film" is nuanced, then...congrats on that prediction.

What might loosely be described as the JJ approach just flies past me completely. It's a graphic novel aesthetic brought to the big screen that's in vogue with many films today and it's far too FX centric and pacey for me.

I assume they'll bring over this aesthetic to this film given that it brings home the bacon at the box office. For me, it's just a nagging distraction in my struggles to keep up with what is going on.

I assume they'll tighten up on the writing and if they do that, that's cause for optimism. But if I honestly ask myself whether I'll likely like this film. The answer, if I'm honest with myself, is probably not.

One of the worst trailers I have ever seen. It ruined any interest I had in the film. And it seems as if others have similar feelings given how defensive the filmmakers including the director have become about the trailer and the film.

Shitty trailer but I'm still optimistic about the movie. Pegg, Lin, and the person I'm Facebook friends with who works on the movie although I don't recall how or why I know them have all been saying the right things.

It's grown on me a little on repeat viewings, but admittedly my first reaction was "What the hell did I just watch?"

But I'm not too concerned about the film itself yet, because teasers are by their nature unpolished and I thought the Terminator Salvation Nine Inch Nails trailer was a masterpiece, and that movie turned out to be terrible, so trailers don't necessarily indicate the quality of the finished product.

Also, I like that both Pegg and Lin have said that they have misgivings about some of the choices made in the trailer and have said that the movie is much more fleshed out and thought-provoking than the trailer would make it appear. I get that the studio is trying to sell it to a wider market so I understand their motives for doing so, though.

I didn't vote because I'm pretty indifferent to the trailer. It did what it was meant to do: attract the casual moviegoer who likes summer popcorn action flicks. By that standard, it was a great trailer. As for my personal feelings? I'm sure the movie will have more substance than just the few minutes of action scenes shown here.

After a few days, I warmed up to it. Did anyone see the Wrath of Khan trailer using Sabotage? I thought it was brilliant and actually made me like this one more.
