If this is a TNG reboot in the Abramsverse, the thing I want most is ample hints that there's a DS9 reboot forthcoming, too. :P
It opens up the doors for the Dominion to be an even bigger and more dangerous threat in the Abrams timeline than it already was in the Prime history. Or there could be a twist where the Dominion behaves more benevolently to infiltrate the Alpha Quadrant and attacks the Federation and other local powers from within.
Imagine the bombing attack in "Homefront (DS9)," only exponentially more widespread. The paranoia would be even more corrosive than it was in the Prime timeline.
In the pilot for Series 6, we'll find out that TATV never really happened. It was all on another holodeck, where an officer was trying to make a difficult decision, so he role-played in an inaccurate recreation of the Pegasus Incident. We're getting a new series. The sehlat turd known as "TATV" did not air in vain.
That about sums it up for me.Well, this is happening, and that's good, but I don't feel really excited about it, and that's bad. I'm mildly curious, though, and that's good, but the curiosity contains potassium benzoate, ... and that's bad.
The streaming system doesn't bother me. If I like the premier and it makes me want to watch more, I'll subscribe. If it doesn't, I won't. Either way, by the next year it would be on Netflix and I'd watch it all then.
http://www.cbs.com/all-access/?cbscidmt=appletv&intcid=CIA07d515fI'm excited. But for now CBS has a year to get its streaming service available on a wider variety of devices. I have a smart TV, smart Blu-Ray players, a PS3, and a PS4. I might entertain the possibility of paying $6 a month to watch a new Trek program but I won't buy another device to it nor will I subscribe to watch it on my tiny phone or on my bedroom PC.
Worse comes to worse. Torrents and media streaming it to my PS4.
Looks easy to access

Only if you're a U.S. citizen.
My reaction this morning was essentially a humble "Huh. Cool." and I moved on to what I was doing.
So let me review the situation for a moment to make sure I got everything right. As of this moment, we know pretty much nothing about this show except Alex Kurtzman is involved, and it's set to premiere on CBS's streaming service in 2017, and it will involve a new cast.
Okay, so serious question, even though this will air on the CBS streaming service, it will eventually make its way to something like Netflix or even DVD/Blu-ray (if such things are still around in a couple years) right?
Unless CBS is taking some elements from it, with Kurtzman as the producer. The mystery angle is right up his alley. And I guessing that Paramount won't be launching Michael Gummelt's Star Trek Uncharted...
In this reboot, Morn actually speaks, but it's mostly about how Quark's liquor has rendered him sterile. Sad, really.
