Just beat ALIEN Isolation.... nerves, frayed-- heart, finally slowing down to something resembling a race motor-- breathing, what is this breathing? I can still hear my heartbeat in my headphones.

I would love to see this as a VR game. Playing it with surround sound headphones---wow....you really don't wanna play this game being the only person in the house. :D

    What to play next?
Mayhap-- Fallout New Vegas in anticipation of Fallout 4.

Or I might go back and revisit Red Faction: Guerilla.

Dear Lord, that game is too stressful for me as it is, I don't even want to think about it as a VR experience.

I've started playing Final Fantasy VI on the PS3. I've played a bit of it before on other consoles, but I'm trying to go through and beat it this time, which shouldn't be an issue.

Yeah, I think it is a truly well done game... from the visuals to the recreation of some of the original film's sound design, to the game play itself.

The randomness of the game is part of what makes it so stressful. There are very few times where the Alien makes a "scripted" appearance. Otherwise, you are sitting on pins and needles, wondering where it's actually going to pop up/down.

I'll tell you what'll get you even worse than the Alien is the facehugger. Thankfully, they can be easily dispatched, but those little frakkers have caught me unawares more than once because I went bursting into a room I knew to be clear of the star of the game.

I did my absolute best to conserve my ammunition throughout the game. By the time I'd finished the game, I'd still had rounds for all my weapons, and even all of the IED's/distractors I'd built. I may have used a Molotov twice, a pipe bomb once. EMP's were probably my most heavily used IED, and that was only if I was about to get surrounded by a few Working Joe's. I used my noisemakers toward the end of the game only....and believe me, I'm glad I did.

For those who have never played the game before, all this talk about weapons....let me just tell ya', this game is first person survival horror....not a first person shooter. Amanda Ripley is not a violent person, although she will defend herself if necessary. She is not a crackshot like most characters in an FPS game.... and it shows in the "gunplay" in this game. You might be able to fend off certain enemies, but the game's play makes it abundantly clear that getting into combat is a last resort, and then, one that must be considered tactically, if you want to survive. Ammo is just scarce enough to make you nervous, but not so scarce that you're left entirely defenseless.... unless you do try to play this game like a first person shooter.... then you're fooked, and all you have left is to try and stealth your way through the rest of the game.

Evading the alien is not too hard, but sometimes avoiding it is.

Damn....ok.... I just need to do a re-review of the game, so I'll stop here. :D

^ To be honest, I didn't like the last episode as much as the previous four.

So my Christmas present arrived yesterday and there's now an Xbox One sat under our TV.

Make sure you have been a good boy, or it could be an X-Box full of rocks.

I remembered hearing a story when Xbox 360 first came out.... It was a local story IIRC, somewhere around New Orleans. This kid, probably 6 years old, was eagerly awaiting his Xbox360 for Christmas. He saw what appeared to be a wrapped box under the tree that matched the dimensions of an Xbox360 box. He wanted his console right then. The dad tried to tell him "just another couple of weeks, son."

Well, to a six year old, two weeks may as well be two years. In typical small child rage, he kicks his dad's $2000 home stereo. The dad kept his cool.

He put up a notice online that he had a brand-new Xbox360 for sale. He'd sell it for the same price as he paid, and just wanted to keep the box.

Two weeks later, the little brat excitedly opened up the X-Box and was rewarded with a package full of rocks. Served him right.

So, have you been a good boy?

OK, I officially give up on God of War 3. I was enjoying playing it, but I got stuck on this stupid music button pressing game that's @#$@#$@#$ impossible. Screw it.

^ Have you tried using an online guide?

I got that Uncharted 2 plat last night. I also finished Until Dawn a few days ago. Now I just need to get the rest of the trophies for the plat.

I do have an online guide, but this is a timed button sequence you HAVE to do correctly in order to advance the game. I did it about 20 times. I don't play games for frustration :p Also, I've got like ten 360/PS3 games I have sitting around unplayed that I need to burn through before I buy an XB1 on Black Friday. Ain't nobody got time for that!

I have a PS4, that was my Christmas present 2 years ago. ;)

Plan is test and make sure it works OK, then pack up and get it on Christmas day but it's still sat under the TV.

I started Batman Arkham Origins tonight. It was ok. I'm still not a fan of the control scheme but it's passable, though I suspect I'll quit at my first proper boss fight. I played a few hours of the original game but I just could not stand the controls.

Really? I think the Arkham games have some of the most natural controls of any video game I've ever played.

The actual punching people part is okay, but the moving around is very awkward. I don't like how slowly he moves without running. And the leveling up menus look so insanely complicated I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing there.

Playing Technobabylon, currently (I played the original freeware demos so it seemed only fair to shell out a bit for the full version, it certainly knocks strips off Gemini Rue)... and I also picked up a title called Majestic Nights for a song. It's fracking bonkers and I'm loving it.
