Supernatural: Season 10 (Spoilers!)

Which is exactly why it's not going to happen. :p

All jokes aside, I'll gladly eat my words if they somehow manage to turn things around and give the show its mojo back. And not like they did with Cas, but really give it back.

Honestly, even if I disagree with some of how things worked out, if they'd maintained the tone of the last few episodes throughout the season, it'd be like watching an entirely different show.

Considering the seeming stakes, they should start rounding up a who's who of SN alum which could mean a Mark Pellegrino return as the ultimate misunderstood loving child. No way they could screw that up. *knock on wood*

That's hilarious!! :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

I'm glad I made through the whole thing; great to see the entire cast show up at the end.

Thanks for the link. :techman:

As for the episode itself: I'll differ from the group and say that it was quite good. Yes, there is a risk that this is just a big cliffhanger that will fizzle out in the first few episodes of the next season, but the mythological development was actually quite strong. The writers finally managed to tie-in the Mark of Caine with some of the show's major storylines (god, archangels, Lucifer, etc.), and I can't help but think that's a good thing for the show a whole. I don't care if they came up with the idea last week or ten years ago. If it works, it works.

It was also nice to see Dean call-out Sam on his decision-making skills of late. That, combined with some good-world-building and an interesting take on darker-but-not-black-eyed-Dean, made the episode worth watching.

My main problem is that they can't quite seem to keep their own mythology straight. We've now seen God in the persona of Chuck this year, so they haven't forgotten about him. We saw Gabriel last season, and we know from producers' comments that he's actually still alive. We know they haven't forgotten about angels losing some of their powers when Metatron cast his spell, since Cas' wings are shown as broken (and Crowley even refers to them as such in as many words in the finale).

Yet, despite the perfect setup at midseason with the references to misbehaving children being straightened out by their fathers, where was God? We know at least one archangel is still up and kicking (meaning not trapped in the cage), why have we not seen him since "Meta Fiction"? It's now been two full seasons since "Sacrifice," why haven't they reopened Heaven's gates and found a solution for the angels' broken wings? It's maddening to see an angel having to summon a demon for help because the latter can still zap around, like we did last night--when early in season 6, Cas went to grab ingredients for a spell in the blink of an eye.

And, for the love of all that's holy, can we get some consistency about Cas and his powers? Seasons 6-8, as a seraph there's no way he'd ever have gotten bloodied like he did last week, and even before that bullets were shown to have no effect on him. Now that he's supposedly a full-power seraph again, he's getting the crap kicked out of him in circumstances where it simply makes no sense.)

And mentioning Lucifer's cage raises another issue. What about Adam, and Michael for that matter? Are they simply condemned to spend the rest of eternity (or the rest of the show's run, whichever comes first) stuck down there?

Those are the mythology plots I want to see them tackle. Yes, the show is primarily about Sam and Dean, but

I think you make a lot of good points. However, I don't see this storyline as preventing the writers from wrapping up those plotlines. If anything, this storyline puts the focus back in those areas. I just hope the writers use the opportunity they've given themselves.

That looked like Flo from Progressive Insurance. She actually played different characters in a couple of commercials.

Dean beats up Sam, who ends up still looking better than Cas, who is a freakin' angel.

Dean talking about the terrible things Sam had done was potentially good, but Sam didn't acknowledge it at all. Then, after everything he'd said, Dean wimps out because the writers don't have the guts to follow through - just like the end of season 8.

And killing death seems so silly. I wish he'd just stood there with the scythe through him, and said "Really?"

And the apocalyptic smoke monster, sorry, "The Darkness"! There's no point even raising the possibility that next season will see Earth as some sort of ravaged dystopia, or threatened by a really dangerous foe. The boys will just be holed up in their comfortable clubhouse, popping out for the occasional case-of-the-week, and having bitch sessions with Cas and Crowley...

Unless this show gets a new showrunner, I think Supernatural is pretty much finished. :weep:

See, that's exactly what I thought would happen. But it didn't and it rather irritated me. Death said that one day he would reap God himself. You can't KILL that kind of being.

I'm hoping that next season, we have something that makes this all make some kind of sense.

Maybe by killing Death, Dean inherited the job, because there needs to be a Death. Could become a funny grim story arc with him working a new day job. ;)

Here's the trailer for season 11.

I really hope we get God/Chuck playing a prominent role this season.

I saw Season 10 DVDs at the store yesterday, which means it should be showing up on Netflix any day now. I need to get caught up!

Season 10 wasn't that great-- had some good moments but overall very disjointed-- but I'm looking forward to 11; I think it at least looks to have one hell of a Big Bad.

Yeah, Season 10 definitely wasn't one of their better ones.

That was a pretty cool trailer. It looks like the Darkness most be able to posses people somehow, judging by the black veiny people who looked like they were attacking other people.

Even the lackluster seasons I have found enjoyable when I marathon through them. I feel like this is a show that would be really frustrating to watch week-to-week.

Yup, it's looking like it's spreading like a disease.

I watched 9 weekly, and it dragged out so much. I marathoned 10 in a couple of days but it was still a bit of a slog to get through.

Season 11 better pick up the quality a lot.
