I agree with all this. SO much better than the last trailer. I hope Suicide Squad does the same thing and blows away its lame first attempt.
    • Glad to see WW on screen looking not at all silly.
    • I like how NuLex is continuing Gene Hackman's tradition of terrible wigs. ;)
    • Who's the guy with the British accent? (presumably playing Alfred)

Well that's two things I got wrong about this movie. Not sure why I had DS9 on the mind but yeah, the Eisenberg who is just a little more famous.

Batman never stands, sometimes his thoughts are so deep the world just can't catch up.

So Bruce Wayne will be the Mary Sue character for those people who bitch and moan about the destruction caused by the Zod/Superman battle?

That sentence makes no sense - Batman cannot function as a 'Mary Sue' character given that he is (besides Superman) the ultimate canon protagonist in a DCU set movie.

I know he doesn't fit the definition of a Mary Sue character. :)
But those who complained can still project themselves into the character.

Batman being the POV character, would be a better definition.

Also it is great to see the MOS supporting cast back; Fishburne, Adams, Lane.

I like the fact that they're picking up the plot point but I hope to hell Snyder didn't do it to appease anybody.

Kal-El had no say in being sent to Earth. And he had no say in where and how he was raised. As he learned he was different he learned to hide it and adapted himself to life here as best as he could. He also had no hand in setting Zod and his group free from the Phantom Zone. He certainly couldn't forsee that his discovery of the Kryptonian ship buried in the Arctic would put out a homing signal for Zod to follow.

In this version he also had no opportunity for the people of Earth to get to know him before Zod showed up to demand he be surrendered. And Kal-El willingly surrendered himself to Zod in the hope of saving the people of Earth.

But the game changed when it became known Kal-El's surrender was meaningless because Zod was going to destroy everyone on Earth anyway. At that point Kal-El could only do the best he could to fight Zod (and he didn't do it alone). He did this even though he had no experience whatsoever in dealing with forces as powerful as himself. He was a complete novice who had only just learned how to fly himself.

These are facts the people of Earth need to realize to see that Kal-El/Clark is not at fault for the destruction rained on Earth and Metropolis.

Though one might make a case for Jor-El bearing a measure of responsibility (he sent baby Kal-El to Earth) Jor-El couldn't have forseen that the destruction of Krypton could rip open the Phantom Zone. As far as Jor-El understood everyone on Krypton would die except for baby Kal-El.

Finally the destruction I saw in MoS didn't strike me as much different than what I saw in The Avangers.

It's interesting that they flipped this shot to better match the new footage with Bruce.

I love Man of Steel, but that was one part that puzzled me. If Jor-El knew the destruction of Krypton was inevitable, why would he put Zod and crew in the Phantom Zone? Why wouldn't he just put him in a holding cell until the planet when ka-blooey? I realize if Zod died with the rest of Krypton, it would've made for a boring movie, but in-universe (and I'm talking the comic here, too), it seems Jor-El is ensuring Zod's survival for putting him off planet while the rest of the race dies

Also it would make Jor-El highly negligent for all the destruction on Earth, since Zod makes it abundantly clear that he will go to great lengths to find Kal-El.

I will say that the trailer for Batman v Superman looks pretty great, BUT let's not forget that the Man of Steel trailer also looked totally awesome. My optimism for this movie is very cautious at this point.

But in MoS Jor-El didn't put them into the Phantom Zone. Zod had already killed him. The Council put Zod and company into the Phantom Zone and I doubt they had any idea either of what could happen.

I don't think I saw this here, a new official image of desert Batman.
The more I see from this movie, the more I like it.
