In other news, Chuck Blazer has just admitted in court that he accepted bribes for the France and South Africa World Cups.
France and South Africa are totally bent so really this is to be expected, I'm sure that upstanding countries like Russia and Qatar would never offer bribes to an organization so willing to take bribes.

To be fair the bribe Blazer mentions with regard to 1998 came from Morrocco re their bid, not France. Sooner or later evidence about Qatar at the very least is going to come out, if not Russia.
Have to wait and see what new evidence emerges, but it could get very interesting if it was proven that members recieved bribes to vote for certain countries. After all the losing nations could mount a legal action against FIFA. After all they had the reasonable expectation that the process would be fair.
It looks more and move like an avalanche as each day new, damaging information is revealed.
I would be greatly surprised if Blatter comes through this without being at least arrested, if not charged for bribery, money laundering or whatnot.
What i find strange though is that it took an american police organization to finally take some effective steps against an organization that's not of huge interest to americans in general (i assume Football is still far below American Football, Basketball and Baseball).
However i sincerely doubt the World Cups in Russia and Quatar will be affected by that. Long term deals in the billion range can't be changed overnight and i would not know who could force Fifa to cancel these World Cups and begin the bidding again.
The most interesting thing to me is how Fifa will be changed by this, as a pessimist in these cases i certainly don't expect much but now that the curtains have been torn down it may be inevitable for profound changes.

Well they are investigating breaches of American law, so it's not really surprising they are taking action, they certainly have the right.
The fact that FIFA doesn't hold the American government in thrall as it does many other countries is probably one of the reasons why it is them doing it.
