Season premiere was interesting. I've been looking forward to this season for a while.

Just watched it. It's good to be back.

I knew Lagertha's boytoy wasn't to be trusted.

The dual foreign language scenes are a little awkward.

Will Ragnar be getting him some Slutbunny? Or maybe Floki...?

Ragnar's got to stop screwing princesses that are not as interesting or attractive as Lagertha.

I don't know what the English were thinking, splitting their forces on opposite banks like that. The second I saw it I said "attack the smaller force."

The main problem is that there's no way for the two armies to reinforce each other. Not the smartest choice, but certainly one that has its share of historical precedents. Perhaps the Mercians assumed that any force sent against them would try to split an attack rather than putting themselves between two forces on opposing flanks.

Floki was hysterical. Happiness just doesn't suit him well. Ragnar looked a bit ticked when Bjorn was busy hustling Porunn off the field. I wonder how ticked he'll be when he hears she's carried the next generation into that fight? It throws me a bit when they refer to England, though. I don't think it was referred to as that till after Alfred the Great. By the way, do you suppose they intend Aethulwulf's kid there to be Alfred? They are playing fast and loose with the characters and their timelines after all. A great kick off episode, looking forward to the trip to Paris this season.

Apparently, this kind of army division happened when Vikings invaded France, with about the same outcome:

They seem to use the names Wessex and England interchangeably, which indeed sounds weird. Uniting Alngo-Saxons was Alfred's dream, but the first one to actually achieve the unification of England was his grandson Athelstan.

I thought so too.

Floki is hilarious and Ragnar can be too with his bizarre facial expressions and ticks. Fimmel's nonverbal acting is great as he can express so much without saying a word. He's not a boisterous king but one who observes.

I keep expecting to see Michael Palin in the background dressed up as a peasant asking where is this 'England' and why should we care about these 'Eng' people, anyway?

I don't know anything about the show, but every time I see the thread title I think of this:

Slutbunny's brother should just turn in his penis after that defeat.

Eh...that arm coming off was nothing compared to the leg-sawing episode of Hell on Wheels last season.

It was nice for me personally to hear Wardruna's "Helvegen" lyrics being reused for a small portion. It's a cool piece of music.

You may see spoilers, but Ragnar and Ecbert would make an awesome comedy team. [yt]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8QuMH5in6s[/yt]

Haha, that's great.

Poor Rollo. He wanted to score with the princess.

I think one of my favorite scenes was * SMACK * "I forgive you." Does anyone know which song was used for the battle scene? I've been trying to identify potential new music from some of the series contributors like Fever Ray and Wardruna, but it's hard to tell if it's them sometimes.

There aren't a lot of guys who could score with farming-themed pickup lines, but Ecbert made it work. :techman:
