I've been saying I want HBO Star Trek for years
Captain Worf is the most tedious proposal ever. I mean, Worf is a nicely fleshed out character whose main personality characteristic is that he is tedious.
I don't think it matters at all what timeline it's set in, it's not like making an entire series about Vulcans set on Vulcan was going to be interesting. I do think leaving us in the alternate is a good choice as it gets us out from under the bloated weight of 700+ episodes and several centuries of canon. Nothing will be all that different but it gives some extra movement and less outcry. Of course setting it in the 27nth century would do the same.
I dunno, there are so many models that have all been done by Trek or other franchises. Exploring. Lost far from home. Fighting a constant war. CSI: Quantum Time Cops. DS9 was the closest we got to my preference for an urban setting. I'm just wondering if people in charge aren't looking at these models and going, meh..
