Star Trek: Axanar

Does Anybody want to talk about Axanar (in a non-degrading, non-belligerent fashion)?

(or have they already all been chased away...) =(

The Axanar fan community would by any measure be considered small, and there are few places to hide from the antics of those who are a bit obsessive about the production and its future.

Eh, not buying it. The Axanar fan group on FB is five thousand users, Axanar's main page has ten times that (double the number of registered users of this Board), and a sufficiently tiny fraction of any of those manifest the belief that Axanar will be turned into a show by CBS that I wouldn't know about it at all but for the antics of the odd troll here.

Perhaps the impact of their antics is exacerbated by the stereotype of the fan film fan as someone who is nerdy and obsessive.

So it is a sort of confirmation bias.

I won't ever get into fan films because those people are cray cray. Fine I guess I will look into this Axanar business, oh never mind - some guy on their website is cray cray, so all their fans must be just as cray cray as I expect them to be.

Also, interesting based on Axanar's Nov. 14, 2015 Kickstarter update is that the production is looking to also recruit Babylon 5 producer John Copeland, a person who certainly knows how to handle a tight budget.

Huh. not sure i get your POV:shrug:, but it WOULD explain why there are NO Axanar fans here...

Axanar *MIGHT* make me give up my resistance to facebook... Nah!

...but the shit-birding here might (sadly) make me give up TrekBBS

I seriously wonder, what happens to some fanatics, if their so desired project fails to deliver? Will they be just protecting/defending or going to fight back so hard, some noses might bleed?
AXANAR might or might not be The Holy Grail of fan filming, as at least one person believes it to be. But, still, there is such a very huge gap between wishful thinking and reality when it comes to AXANAR being produced as a series for CBS.

And it doesn't help matters, if anybody shouts: "WAIT.FOR.IT! SOON! END.OF.NEXT.MONTH!" As long as such fantasies keep going on without ANY indication or proof, topics like this one keep derailing...

The idea that there are no Axanar fans here is peculiar, to say the least.

BigJake seems to be... so that's one!
I'm a fan of a lot of fan films. Prelude To Axanar is in the class of those with impressive production values. I'm interested in seeing Axanar succeed. I have invested time in discussing the project, I continue to do so, I will see the finished project when it is released, and then I will discuss it some more. What more in the way of credentials do I need?

When the discussion remains about Axanar, I keep the thread open. When the discussion devolves into merely a discussion about the discussion or about Forum participants, I close the thread due to the comments no longer being on-topic or significantly contrubutive.

Fair warning.
