Re: J. Ryan Speaks About Her ‘Intentionally Unpleasant’ Experiences on
eh it's been around for years. Someone asked her about it at the con I saw her at and boy did she let them have it. It went like this..
Dick in audience: I heard a rumor, and I don't think it's true, but I've heard it so I thought I would ask about it though I don't think it's true [endless waffle] that you had a lot of friction with Jeri Ryan and didn't like her when she joined the cast.
KM paces back and forth across the length of the stage with this building up death glare.. in the absolute silence. Then she fixes her stare on the questioner.
KM: Well I think you DO think it is true because otherwise you would not have asked it.
(This is said in a tone.. like the principal uses when you are dragged to their office.)
More pacing follows.
Then KM launches into all her reasons for not liking the sex babe introduction to the show, how she felt it eroded the series and undercut the advance of having a female captain. She went on to say that Jeri Ryan was a great actress and the character became very well developed and a huge positive. She said she had nothing against Jeri, just against the sex symbol character introduction on the part of the powers that be.
Obviously this is paraphrase from a few years back but my quote is pretty accurate. But she did not admit to any bad behavior OR say anything negative about Jeri at all. As far as I can tell she has never said anything negative about Jeri, which regardless of how she behaved decades ago is at least classy enough today.
