Arrow - Season 3

Sara had to die to push Laurel into the Canary role.

I can't stop rolling my eyes at the idea that a skinny club girl is going to become a martial arts expert in 4-5 months. Presumably Laurel will be able to best a UFC champion by the end of this season.

I have finally caught up with the series. Am I the only one that breathed a sigh of relief when they finally offed Sara Lance?
The weakest character by far on the show, zero chemistry with Oliver, annoying voice, boring, boring, boring.
Please don't bring her back.
Yeah, you're the only one. ;) I REALLY liked Sara, & thought she definitely looked like the comic version of Black Canary, and had a lot of credibility as a fighter.

i thought she had more chemistry with Oliver than Laurel. With Ra's Al Ghul...there could be the Lazarus Pits! I guess we'll find out who killed her soon.

Yeah..i'm with you on that...i mean THEA seems like she'll be waaaay more qualified to be Canary (or whatever ID they'll develop for her) than Laurel.

Laurel has enough repressed rage/emotion/conflict in her to be a great fighter, and remember she was an attorney who represented the powerless and the destitute, so she already has that defender/hero mindset.

She will be awesome.

Sorry, by "skinny club girl" I was referring to Thea.

LOL..C'mon Diggle. You are in serious need of a mask. Or a motorcycle helmet. Or get one of those funky basketball player face protectors. Anything, especially when in the company of a trio of masked and hooded compatriots.

I thought that Thea was going to go all Bruce Lee on Nyssa. Guess that'll have to wait.

Nanda Parbat... I like what they did with the place. But no Oded Fehr. Boo!

I wasn't going to complain until Oliver told him to not go inside because Thea might recognize him. It's not going to happen, though, because he's an original character and they aren't going to want to give him a costume.

Team Arrow is in a weaker place than they were last season. Not sure if they really want a war with the League of Assassins.

So many freakin secrets on this show. Even I forgot for a second that Ollie and company didn't know Merlyn was still alive. And leave it to Thea to keep it a secret from Oliver. Not that he's all honest and open to her either.

Ra's al Ghul!

I had this very odd thought after seeing another white guy playing the part.

What if his birth name was Marco Polo?

It was awesome to see Ra's. I hope he confronts Oliver eventually. This was another great episode, although I think starting a fight with the League might be a bad idea  I'm kind of getting annoyed with the "Laurel keeps Sara's death a secret" subplot, I hope it doesn't go through the whole season. I agree with Diggle's need to hide his face. It doesn't need to be a costume, they can easily justify a ski mask or helmet or something without it being a costume.

I look forward to Arrow vs. Ra's al Ghul though lets face it at this point "Ollie" is not trained to handle Ra's al Ghul after struggling against his daughter. I know it will never happen but I would fucking love Batman/Arrow vs. Ra's al Ghul  though who knows maybe Flash could help.

Ollie vs Nyssa lasted a fraction of the time Ollie fought Merlyn in season one, and he was never on the ropes. I find Ollie is becoming more formidable each season, and it feels realistic in that he is becoming more comfortable with himself and has more certainty about how he fights. He was never completely comfortable with killing, and it felt like there was often a split second where he had do decide how far to take it.

I'm probably reading in what I want to believe about it, but I do think he's gotten better.

Good episode. LOTS of intense staring. The web of lies in this show is notoriously complex, and it's only getting moreso now - at least they do a semi-reset between seasons when the main baddie is taken care of, but it was interesting tying Waller into the show's overall history like this.

And I can't have been the only one to notice that the coffee shop Thea was at was the same set as the coffee shop in The Flash that Iris works at. They dressed it up slightly differently and gave it a different name, but it's the same set.

Strange, I was expecting that we'd recognize film locations more frequently (the back alley behind the studio for both shows has been seen with the same Skytrain going overhead in both shows, for example), but I'm surprised they're trying to pass off Iris' regular place of employment as a "guest" coffee shop in another city. :P

I think it's a fair point that he's probably gotten better since seasons 1 and 2.

Who says it's not a franchise coffee shop? ;)

There must be something wrong with that article. I see someone in the photos that looks like a younger sister, but where's Felicity's mother?

This was a great episode.
I didn't realize we were getting the big Ra's al Ghul reveal already. The Petra style Nana Parbat was cool, I was expecting the snowy mountain hideout that other versions of the league have used.I wonder who Nyssa will end up siding with in the end, since it does appear that her father killed Sara/had her killed. When they first showed Ra's in the tub, I couldn't help but wonder if that was a Lazarus Pit.
I was kind of surprised that they had Oliver finding out about Malcolm already, I was expecting him being alive to be kept secret longer. The whole thing with Oliver believing him and protecting him from Nyssa was a nice twist. I just hope they don't keep going to that kind of storyline too often.
I wonder how long it will be before Oliver finds out what Thea is capable of now. I'm assuming he's going to find out at least before the season is over.
