Arrow - Season 3

Felicity was reading the same blog page about "The Streak" that Iris was doing, in the middle of this week's episode. Cute little catch, though I'm surprised it took her this long to buy a ticket to Central City. Is there no water cooler talk in the Arrowcave? Oh, Barry called me up a couple weeks ago and by the way he can run really really fast now?

Mark

PS - They also passingly referenced Coast City this week, i.e. Green Lantern's hometown. I really doubt Gotham or Metropolis would be so lucky on this show...

Thea had very good reasons not to want to come back to Starling, but in the end, she decided to go with Ollie anyway (if only for a visit). It would be a lot easier if Oliver just told her the truth about him being the vigilante archer; since she's got some fighting skills now, she could be part of the "inner circle."

It would appear that Laurel would be the next Canary, as evidenced by her desire to learn how to fight.

It was mentioned she took self-defense classes in season one, and got into a fight in an early episode; it was implied she COULD take care of herself, but this seems to have been forgotten. That, or she's really just outmatched by every Arrow, Merlyn and wifebeater out there.

Self defence is about putting the attacker briefly off balance so that you can run.

It's a different process from destroying the person standing in front of you from one degree to another.

Plus he had a not insignificant amount of experience in violence and was probably pretty drunk so wouldn't feel the hits quite so much. She's just lucky he didn't feel like breaking her legs.

Besides, a botched, amateurish first attempt is practically a requirement for a comic book vigilante's origin story. ;)

Not sure how I feel about the casting of Ted Grant. I tend to think of that character as older, more of a "past his prime but can still kick arse" kind of teacher. Given that they've cast relatively young, I wonder if they have an eye towards making him Wildcat in the show or will they just name drop that as his old boxing moniker? On the one hand, why not? At this point almost the whole cast is made up of comic book heroes, no? But then on the other hand almost the whole cast is already made up of comic book heroes. ;)

1. File the barrel for 20 seconds before using it.

2. Don't use your own gun or a gun that will trace back to you.

...

Murder is not really a good answer and knee capping is just mean.

Planting a gun or drugs in his house/car and then alerting his parole officer would have had exactly the same effect that what Quentin brought forth at the end of the episode. But then merely an allegation of beating his wife would restart his jail time.

Low hanging fruit and Laurel attacked him wrong, since considering her job she had complete access to his files.

The casting probably skewed young to also accommodate Grant as a potential love interest for Laurel, if the producers were to pursue such a course of action. Judging by the vibe between the two characters in last night's episode, I'd wager this inevitable.

But I'm with you, Ted Grant = old, gruff, & cantankerous, in my reading experience.

He was young once.

Tom Bronson was a namedrop from the comics where he's Grant's son. (And a werecat)

3 things about Ted.

1. Former heavy Weight Boxing Champ of the World.

2. Nine lives like a cat. Comes back from the dead a lot.

3. Trained Catwoman to fight & they sport sexed a lot.

I have finally caught up with the series. Am I the only one that breathed a sigh of relief when they finally offed Sara Lance?
The weakest character by far on the show, zero chemistry with Oliver, annoying voice, boring, boring, boring.
Please don't bring her back.

I thought that Sarah was given a good send-off at the end of last season. It's a shame she had to die.

Well they had milked everything they could from her experiences during the Five Years On and Off the Island, with the exception of the time she spent with the League, so her character had outlived it's usefulness and basically became an "Extra helper during fight scenes".
She did not have to die, but her death at least is giving Laurel something more interesting to do.

Enjoyed this episode. The stuff with Thea and her dad was cool, and I liked the beginning of Laurel becoming the new Canary.

Affirmative.

And, "finally"? Those of us not in denial knew it was coming, but I definitely didn't expect it so soon and so randomly.
