AOS returns to TV this following Tuesday and it should be interesting to see where the series goes from where it left-off at the end of the last season (and with The Winter Soldier.)

I've not followed any spoilery news or such in the off-season, so I look forward to this season and hope it stays on the trend it had during the first season's back-half in avoiding getting too much into the "Freak of the Week" type stuff.

Well, I posted a link to here form the Season 2 Rumors thread, and now subscribed, so i'm ready.

i'm torn -- interested in the new direction, but a little sad that it's at 8pm (9pm Eastern)....a little late for my 9 year old to watch. She's been getting into it (like Agent May)....i'll have to pre-screen it to see if it's OK. Or I guess it's just The Flash for her.

While we're on the subject, I kinda fell off DC, in movies, television (midway through Smallville), and comic books (post Kingdom Come), and Image as well. Though they've done great works in the past, I can't get into the expanded universe like I can with Marvel.

To the thread, I've been spoiled and I'm still pumped, if not more pumped for this season.

Edit: Also, is the over seas airing times going to be way off set like the first season?

Yeah, I'm hopeful. The show got more engaging as the first season progressed. I've been disappointed in other things before, and after enough of those you kinda get jaded, so I'm wary too. Still excited, so I guess there's still a comic geek inside of me that hasn't been stamped out by the jackboots of reality. ;)

Well, if this clip is any indication, they are going to hit the ground running. We get our first look at The Absorbing Man right off the bat and get introduced to our new team members right up front.

I'm also glad to see that they are continuing with the new posters for each episode. I like how Ward is facing the other direction.

I'm optimistic. I really liked where they left things in the finale, which I just rewatched this morning as prep for the premiere, and am very curious to see where things go from there.
Hopefully, Season 2 will be closer in tone and style to the post-TWS episodes than the pre-TWS episodes.

To put a final rest to any of the silly notions that Agents of SHIELD was low-rated, un-popular or ever on the verge of cancellation, I bring you reality (by way of "Variety")...

Last season, the show established a solid ratings base for ABC in live plus same-day numbers (averaging a 2.4 in adults 18-49 and 6.9 million viewers overall), but grew in the live plus seven measure once DVR viewers were factored in, jumping to a 4.0 demo rating and 10.4 million viewers, which helped it tie for fifth place among all broadcast series last year, behind only “The Big Bang Theory,” “Modern Family,” “The Blacklist” and “Grey’s Anatomy.”
Also at the link, a nice interview with Jed and Maurissa.

The show was pretty dull in the first half or so. But once Bill Paxton appeared, pretty much when the SHIELD/Hydra thing started up culminating in the shadowing of the events in "The Winter Soldier" the series really picked up and showed what it could accomplish. The first part was good and somewhat interesting but also pretty by-the-book when it comes to episodic "procedural" shows with a FOTW format which wasn't strictly interesting. Were it not for Coulson, I'm not sure I could have toughed it out until the back-half when the show really started moving. Shoot, I may not have even picked up the show at all.

Again, I hope the Second Season sticks with the pace set-up in the back-half of the First Season and tries to avoid the FOTW format too much. I mean it's a necessary evil at sometimes but it's hardly a series that can sustain that for very long without feeling over-done or over-populating the MCU with people with unusual abilities, powers, equipment.

Though the second half of the season was better, I thought the first half of the season was pretty good. Personally, I liked 'The Asset', 'Eye Spy', and 'FZZT'.

^I like those three as well as "The Hub" and the "The Bridge"/"The Magical Place" two-parter. I thought "Pilot" was a strong start. Of course, the proverbial snowball started rolling downhill with TRACKS and the SHTF in "End of the Beginning/"Turn,Turn, Turn".

^Much more than the show would care to spend for them.

Eh, depends on the contract they have with Disney/Marvel. For all we know there could be something in there that says they can be used once a season for an AOS appearance working at SAG "Scale."

How much would it cost to have an established Avenger guest star on an episode?

An Avenger? Way too much. Another established character? Very possible. We've already had Sif and Nick Fury appear. Maybe Falcon or the Warriors Three, or Sharon Carter who is already on an ABC show?

I could see them working in TV guest spots into future contracts, with all the new Netflix shows coming up.
