Ziyal's Surgery Update

My definition of awesome recovery and theirs is not always the same. Yes, it's great that my incision is healing beautifully, that I have increasing energy and strength (actually, they were shocked at how strong my legs and arms were just a couple days after the surgery), that my pulmonary function is excellent, and so on. We all agree on that.

But MY definition of awesome recovery would include bowel and bladder control, you know?!?! If not immediately, at least in the near future. Which they can't promise me. Extensive nerve damage is common with this surgery. At this point, it's still not clear how much of mine is permanent.

Remember to get plenty of rest.

Oh, that suuuuuuuuccckks. Unfortunately, only time will tell with that kind of thing. My fingers are crossed in hopes it improves quickly.

Just take it a day at a time. If that aspect of awesome recovery sorts itself out in the near or not-too-distant future, peachy. If it doesn't, and bowel and bladder control turn out to be more long-term issues, well, okay - that's not so much fun, but it can still be coped with, and on a list of the inconveniences people can get stuck with, this really isn't one of the biggies.

Meanwhile, since there's nothing you can do right this instant to accelerate that part of your recovery, have a look at some cute baby cheetah pictures instead.

Thanks. It's over half a year since, but in the first couple of months I really missed having a cutie cat around the house .

I tried to resist the temptation, but I just have to ask: What do you consider to be "biggies" among the possible inconveniences people can get stuck with?

I know I'm not M'Sharak, but for me that would be brain injury of the kind that disrupted cognitive function. Physical stuff, while very hard, is a lot less frightening or worrying to me than that.

But I pray that you will become as strong as possible, and recover ALL that you can!
