My definition of awesome recovery and theirs is not always the same. Yes, it's great that my incision is healing beautifully, that I have increasing energy and strength (actually, they were shocked at how strong my legs and arms were just a couple days after the surgery), that my pulmonary function is excellent, and so on. We all agree on that.
But MY definition of awesome recovery would include bowel and bladder control, you know?!?! If not immediately, at least in the near future. Which they can't promise me. Extensive nerve damage is common with this surgery. At this point, it's still not clear how much of mine is permanent.
