(Actually, the image is from another time I brought lunch home from the delicatessen.)

At the risk of showing how food challenged i really am.....what the heck ARE those sandwiches anyway? They look awfully good. Very fresh. But i have NO idea what they are!

Today:
-- $12 at the laundrymat
-- $100+ on diapers and formul and baby food
-- $20 gas

Net -$30 (had to bum money off the folks)

Back row left: 'Rullepølse' ~ I don't know what part of the pig it is (not a butcher!) seasoned with (mostly) pepper, rolled up and boiled and then pressed over night. Sliced like salami-sausage (the name means 'rolled sausage') here served with onion rings, pickle, garden cress (and tomato for the colour.
Right: fillet of fish (Plaice) w. sauce remoulade and a few drops of lemon.
Front: I think that was chicken-something w. scrambled egg (the red thing I believe was pepper).

It was about dinner-time before I had my 'lunch' today, but I did take another photograph:

Rygeost (local delicacy; 'fresh cheese', lightly smoked, served with non-seasoned mayonnaise, radishes, chives salt & pepper
Fried pickled herring w. onion
Walnut salami w. remoulade and roasted onions
Chicken salad.
I have no idea how to explain this; it's pork, but it has the same texture and feel as gravad lax, lightly smoked w. scrambled egg.

Very tasty looking lunch!

My latest purchase was a DVD of Tron and now I have watched it about 200 times including with the director commentary and in French with French subtitles.

Same with the Dune 25th anniversary DVD -- it can also be watched in French & Spanish!

I have also discovered that many of the Tim Burton films I have on DVD can be watched with a French or Spanish language track plus subtitles.

Yes, I watch a lot of the same thing over and over -- I picked that up during my pre-medication migraine headache days.

:)

Lady not included.

Massachusetts is having a "Tax Holiday" this weekend to stimulate the economy; no sales tax on items up to $2500. WOO HOO!

Is it sad that I'm excited about a refrigerator? That's what being a home owner does to you, I suppose. Sigh.

Just had to share that our new "big ass fridge" finally arrived yesterday, after 1 failed attempt at delivery (first delivery guys were totally lame and couldn't figure out how to get it into our house even with me telling them exactly what needed to be done -- in a nice way.) Yesterday's delivery guys were full of win (and got a BIG tip for their efforts.) It is AWESOME!!! A friend commented that we could hide bodies in it. Not that we're planning to or anything.

Aw, what a great fridge! We used to have one of these (same size I think) in Joburg, and my parents had an even bigger one when they were still in Detroit. However, I now am the proud owner of a fridge the size of a shoe box. *hmpf*

My latest purchase: A Springboks rugby shirt. Now that the Fifa World Cup is over and done with, I shall return to focussing on rugby- a Boer game, but whatever. :p

$130 on groceries...

...We're going to stop eating out because my wife quit her job to go back to school and she brought home more than I did, so now we have a lot less to work with, maxed out cards, paying off loans, and all her supplies, plus paying for our own health insurance, and filling up the car and eating ourselves...

...I must now work really hard to write my short stories and try to get them published...

TREKKIEDANE: Heh, thanks for answering. I don't even KNOW what most of that food you mentioned is!!!!

It's basically just a "Smörgåsbord" without the buffet-part.

If you ever find yourself in Denmark do try to find a "Smørrebrødsforretning" (kind of a specialised delicatessen) or order it in a restaurant; they'll have a meter-long list of different types to choose from.)

Or you could just visit me :)

We just got the battery peppermill Hubby wanted. Yeah, I know. But when he's bbq-ing that much food (he's got a big family) and wants fresh-cracked pepper, my arm muscles just can't take turning the regular mill for long.

You know those screw-in hooks? -for hanging things from; hammocks, curtains, towels, anything really.

When you need to screw them out of the wall (or whereever) again, the simplest thing is to fasten a hook in your electric screwdriver and use that...

I used the same tweaked tool to electrify my pepper mill once :rommie: -It, of course, only works when you have the right kind of pepper mill:
