Market day today, went to get some sausages to go with the can of sauerkraut I imported last month (or was it the one before that?).

New eyeglasses ... WHICH I HATE WITH A PASSION!!!

Actually, the frames are quite nice. But, the optometrist convinced me to get the "progressive" lenses that gradually and invisibly change from distance vision (top 1/2), middle vision for computer work and reading strength in the bottom. Sounded like a good idea when they were described, but turns out there are total and utter crap as there is only a very narrow "corridor" of accurate prescription in the bottom half of the lens; the rest is all distorted. I'm told I have to give it time to "train my brain" where to look and not to look. Screw that. I pay this much for glasses, I feel that the glasses should be made to accommodate ME! Giving them a week, but after that if I'm still not comfortable with them, back they go. :klingon:

Sorry for the rant. Just taking my frustrations out I guess.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled discussion thread.

Progressive lenses aren't for everyone. Some people adjust fine to them, others hate them and switch back to either two different frames (one regular, one reading) or use traditional bifocals.

If you can't adapt to the varifocals after about a week or two, you might try asking your optician whether the number of different strengths can be reduced. I think the standard is for seven different strengths across the lens. Sometimes reducing that to five different strengths can be helpful in adjusting.

Just a few thoughts! You wouldn't be the first person to hate varifocals at first! :D

Lunch for dad and I!

Took a lot of pressure to be allowed to pay! -dad (or mum) always think they have to pay, but today I was so fast that I actually managed to pay before dad was ready to do so!

I passed by a Gap and couldn't stop myself from buying this denim shirt. I couldn't find a picture of it online so that's actually our kitchen table... :D

Then I realised I hadn't bought a denim shirt since the 80s. :wtf:

Chambray shirts have been very in the past year or so, so it's not surprising the superficially similar denim has also experienced an upswing, esp. given the general 80s reinventing going on at the moment. Personally I prefer the softer chambray to even light denim, but both can be cool worn the right way.

Just ordered this book from Amazon.com. I had been looking to buy it ever since I saw it in a London book store 15 years ago.

Oh, I didn't want a chambray shirt. I wanna feel like a -real- cowboy.

:shifty:

Sorry, I just couldn't resist. ;)

I bought the best baby toy ever for my nephew -- I think I'm getting more entertainment out of it than he will. I can't explain, one must see what it does:
