Have cut out the booze, so treated myself to four bottles of strawberry nectar from Fortnum and Mason, only place that seems to do a decent strawberry juice. Heaven.

Bought chicken stock, onion, red pepper, and new potatoes to go in the special rice meal I'm making tomorrow.

I got my return on my student loan to use for school supplies. Well, I have all the school supplies I need, so I brought my bills up to date, bought a week's worth of groceries, and then I bought these for me:

It's my new HP Pavilion A6803W. I got it at Walmart. With parts prices as they are, and the fact that we're moving in a few weeks, I didn't have the time to buy everything, put it together, get it all up to speed and ready to go only to take it all apart to pack it up.

This PC screams, too. It is wickedly fast in every application in which I have used it. I also get a free upgrade to Windows 7 (which I will be taking full advantage), since it has Vista on it right now. I'm giving my iMac to my cousin. Their computer is essentially a large paperweight. It barely functions at all, and they're at a critical point in their lives where they're relying on their computer and it has failed them, so I'm hoping this helps.

And:

:adore:

Once I got the blu-ray movie set, I gave my movie DVDs to one of my more economically disadvantaged friends, who still watches the few Trek movies he has on old VHS tape broadcast recordings he made, and that he's worn out. He just about peed his pants, he was so excited.

A pair of snazzy boots that apparently won't be shipping for at least another two weeks.

It should be requirement that 'on order' items are labeled as such so you know before you buy. Especially if the retailer doesn't offer a quick and easy 'cancel order' option on site. I'm not going through the hell of customer service just for that. I guess I'll wait on em. At least they look to be worth it. :p

New O2 sensor
New Powertrain Control Module

Total cost (Est) $775

Ouch!

Yikes! My commiserations!

Heaven is not an alcohol-free zone! :p

Last purchases were a shopping spree on my last day in London...

Our economy thanks you.

Hope you enjoyed your stay!

I did my grocery shopping. My current job is just next to a Waitrose, so I'm now doing about 50% of my shopping there rather than my usual Tesco down the road from home. The quality of Waitrose food is so much higher, esp. their fresh produce & meat. And their Essential range is a nice compromise between price and quality. But Tesco is still cheaper for branded items. So I'm mixing and matching my shopping between the two places; most fresh food from Waitrose, everything else from Tesco.

Mom and I got a brand new Bissell vacuum cleaner because our other one went to hell and a handbasket!! I brought it home and it said "some assembly required". "Some assembly required" my ASS! It literally took me 45 minutes to put the frakking thing together. But it works like a dream and you can actually rinse out the compartments in it, as well as the filter. I will let it dry for at least 24 hours before I use it again though. It's a nice vacuum cleaner and we got it on sale at Kohl's!!!! It's regularly more than $130..we got it for $72! What a steal!

Have a heart- or 200. :p My latest bead purchase- (actually, Mom bought them for me):

Beads are my crack, my mom is my dealer. :p

Waitrose rocks. All sorts of funny little things you can't find elsewhere. Their staff seem to be a trillion times better trained than Tesco's, too. They don't look as though they want to strangle the next customer, which is reassuring. I've found they sell a few name brands cheaper than the rest, surprisingly enough! Certain types of soya sauces, for example, and some very good teas, among other things I can't remember off the top of my head. Very honest pricing for the quality in my opinion.

I shop at least 4 different supermarkets throughout the week, going to whichever place does each item best. Not as hard as it sounds as they're all practically next door to each other. I think I've become almost Jewish or Italian-like when it comes to attention given to food. Sadly, my cooking is not quite up to those heights yet.

And to stay on topic... today:
Few bottles of Supermalt
Couple of frozen chicken kievs
And a bunch of muller lights

Save up your booze rations for a proper binge, at least. :D

This is a good idea, but the thing is, I'm really lazy to go food shopping frequently. I prefer to get what I need for about a week or so and then not go again. Oh well, compromise is part of life...
