A necklace with a plastic part that has a scorpion in it. Also, Star Trek DS9: Unity. (I think that's what the book is called; I don't have it on hand right now. XD)

I got some of my student loan money back, and my Advisor told me to purchase a few school related things with it. One of them, she said, should be a laptop just in case your computer ever goes down or your internet connection fails. Since this is an online university, my connection is critical.

So, I took some and bought a brand new Acer Aspire One.
I think it's beautiful, and after removing the bloatware on it (McAfee security suite and a whole bunch of other useless things), she runs like greased lightning. For $278, this is what I got:

Intel Atom Processor (1.6 Ghz)
10.1" Display
160 GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive
1 GB RAM
256MB Intel 950A Graphics Adapter
3 USB 2.0, 1 VGA, audio input and output jacks, and a Multimedia Card Adapter (for SD cards, MMC, and so on)
Ethernet Adapter
Wireless B/G/N Adapter
Built in Webcam and Microphone

And it comes with Windows XP Home SP3.

Here are a couple of pictures:

(You might not be able to tell from the pics, but it's Electric Blue)

I am absolutely thrilled with it. :D

J.

I am posting from mine :techman: I have the exact same one (blue too!) I LOVE IT! I love its portability, its speed and got used to the small keys quite quickly. The battery, fully charged, lasts 3+hours and re-charges in less than an hour :techman::techman:

Yeah, the small keys only took a few moments, and it's very comfortable to use. I've already tried a few classes on it and it worked great!

I really want one of those. I'm thinking of buying one soon, I just wish they'd start making them with DVI connectors.

I know it's a small thing, but I'm kinda fickle about it.

^ I'll probably get the UK version of BSG as well. The fact that it's cheaper doesn't hurt either. And I honestly don't know if I'm even gonna get Dollhouse.

I suppose it's late at this point, but there was some question as to whether or not the UK release would have the extended episodes, as well as the many features (such as the podcasts) that were not released there for previous seasons. But if it's just the aired episodes you want, I can't argue with that deal.
From what I've read online, the content of the UK set should be identical to the US one. If it's not, I'll cancel my pre-order and get the US one.

^There's a thread I started on the Battlestar Galactica forum. A UK reviewer has gotten ahold of the first 14 discs (i.e. everything up to the end of season three) and so far they do have the extended versions of "Pegasus" and "Unfinished Business".

It's been a very long time since I've done this, I've been very lazy. I've been taking pictures but not posting them.

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat and a random adventure game on clearance at Target that I'll most likely never play.

Purchases063Medium.jpg

Some awesome Wii third party games.

Purchases064Medium.jpg

Only a videogame based on my favorite movie of all time! Came with a $20 gift card at Toys R Us.

Purchases065Medium.jpg

A result of a mix up from Sears.com. The product page for Rock Band displayed Indy (the price was $30, $20 off the price of Indy), and they sent out Rock Band before realizing their mistake. Indy was then shipped out for free later, so both games only cost me $30 plus a little for shipping Rock Band. Nice.

I don't have the Wii version of Rock Band though.

Purchases066Medium.jpg

Some games I got on sale for $20 each.

Purchases067Medium.jpg

Some cheap used DVDs and a cheap used game from Family Video's website. All are blind buys (expect Mercenaries 2 I guess, since I played the demo).

Purchases068Medium.jpg

Some Mystery Science Theater and some more awesome Wii games.

I just signed the purchase agreement and paid the deposit, so there is not really a way back!!

What's the housing market like in your part of the world? Has it gone through the same kind of downturn as over here (and in the USA)? Probably a fairly decent time to buy if so, provided you got a good mortgage deal.

Waaaaaay across the Channel, it's not as bad. The housing market has slowed down a bit, but there is no real crash or even slump. It takes a little longer now to sell a house/flat (mainly the high-end ones), and the prices aren't climbing any more, but overall the market is still pretty solid.

I'm going mortgage shopping next week, wish me luck :-)

Cool. Good luck!

How does the purchase system work there, if you can shop for the mortgage before actually closing? Here, when we say "deposit" we mean the portion of the purchase you pay for yourself rather than via a mortgage, but you have to pay it at the same time as providing the seller with the mortgage funds too. You can't "reserve" the house by just making a downpayment (unless you created some really weird contract that few sellers would accept) - the transaction isn't considered a legal closure until the full payment is transferred. Until then, the either party can choose to terminate the sale contract with no prejudice.

My new phone. Even managed to find an image of it in the right color. Also ordered new service, new car charger, and new case. Am downloading ringers for it now...
