... charmless maitresse d' who seemed a out of her depth in a very busy and slightly too loud restaurant with tourists a-plenty. Inoffensive but slightly "chain-restaurant" decor.
The wine list is trendy rather than good - lots of light, bland fruity numbers with zero depth but vague "organic" credentials. In fact, one might say the wine list mimics most of the restaurant's clientele...
Waiter service reasonably good & friendly and price wasn't at all the gouging I expected. Food - I tried the tagliatelle genovese. Pasta acceptably al dente, as were the green beans, and it was a decent portion... but just a little "flat" - the herbs lacked zing and the while the pecorino cheese added a pleasant sharpness, the dish overall felt unremarkable.
Overall: decent place to grab a bite to eat in the middle of the day, but not a destination restaurant despite the name above the door. I would rate it as 7.5mg olanzapine out of a maximum of 20.
A tent.
I'm taking a road trip next week which will involve some camping, mostly on the way back. I'm not a camping person, but paying $25 a night for 2 people for a few stops made a lot more sense. I do like the stuff, though, and I'm getting the feeling that I could stay at posh hotels for the same amount I'll pay for all the cute little stuff that catches my eye.

Stay at the posh hotels, get the cute little stuff gratis.

By cute little stuff I mean cute lawn chairs, a new air mattress, maybe a little camping stove or lantern...
Yep, I get the hots for camping equipment and... office supplies. I'm a strange, strange person.
And I think one night at your idea of a posh hotel would fund my entire trip!!!
