You really can't seem to go wrong with DLink routers. I'm on my second one only because I was stupid when I bought the first and did not get dual band. I rectified that error about a month ago and bought the DIR-820L.
The change in the network speed even over the lower band (2.4) network from the router I bought in 2011 is remarkable.

Actually, plenty, but I don't remember to post about a lot of those things. For instance, a tank of gas and a big breakfast I bought this morning.

Nah, be a little wry and mischievious. More fun that way. 
I ended up taking the D-Link back. There was a fault with the power system. Spent 30 minutes with live chat and another 30 minutes with telephone call center before they finally admitted it was faulty and I should return it back. I did not exchange it for another - got scared off since it was my first D-Link. I went back to the brand I had - Netgear and picked up a R-7000 'Nighthawk' AC 1900 dual band. Glad I did. I am very happy. D-Link is a good name, but I couldn't go back to it....first impressions and all.
