TOS communicator ringtone for my iPhone :alienblush:
Way to go
thumbup-1.gif

The last time I had a tone like that, it went off in public and I got laughed at. We'll see if things are any different this time around.

Apart from the text-sound ALL of my sounds were (well: are) from Trek (there's an app for that :p ).

I have experienced people recognize the sounds -and laugh- but they never laugh at me, they always laugh with me...

It did not seem like they were laughing "with" me at the time. If it happens again I will try and pay extra close attention. I may even ask someone what's up.

^You've posted about the experience before, I still find it strange that people -in general- would recognize a sound like this but still laugh at it...

I find that the whole point of customised ringtones is to raise a mild grin (or mild annoyance) in those around you. Why else have one? :D

It's also mildly amusing to see who recognises the tune. I have Magnum PI on mine. Not many get it precisely, but almost everyone recognises it as something vaguely 80s-ish.

Everybody knows what the TOS communicator noise sounds like. Everybody also likes to laugh at Trek fans. We're easy targets, as anyone who's seen Trekkies will know.

But what the hell, this was years ago when it happened to me. Maybe people have changed since then. Perhaps I should think of some snappy comebacks...then again, it would be better to get laughed at then have my ass kicked.

Exactly! -it's just kind of a tie or waistcoat for your phone :p

I love it!

When I worked in corrections, I used Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues" as the ringtone for work-related calls.

Oh, my most recent purchase was two bottles of supplements (calcium and flaxseed oil). Between the buy-one-get-one-free sale and the $7 coupon I had, I paid $9.99 instead $29.98. Yes!

To day I recieved in the post

The Sherlock Holmes Collection (5 movies with Peter Cushing as Holmes)
Murdoch Mysteries series 4
Richard Hammond's Invisible Worlds

and some book binding tape.

I also bought some groceries.

And I downloaded "Let the Faggots Burn: the Upstairs Lounge Fire" by Johnny Townsend onto my Kindle. I saw this book mentioned on Facebook. I had never heard of this fire which killed 32 people, most of them gay men.

Yep, that was on my Facebook. It's a very hard book to read, but the story should be told. Hate the title, but that's what a fireman actually said that night. :(

I just bought my tickets for the Oscar movie marathon- 4 of the Best Picture nominees tomorrow. Next week, the remaining five.

I have been trying to put the Facebook name to the member here. I had forgotten it was you but I knew it was someone from Trekbbs.

I just bought one of those things that you use to soft/hard boil eggs in the microwave.

I bought a new neon tube because the one in the kitchen decided to die after many years of faithful service.

I also bought security locks for the windows and a whole lot of groceries.

^Security locks as in 'no one comes in' or is it the 'no one falls out'-sort? -I have both types you see; I live on the ground floor and need to be able to have a window open when I'm not home... and I have a cat so I also need to make sure it doesn't get out into the street.

I was looking for something else (more abut that at a later time) when I passed something in the shop I couldn't live without: Star Trek Vault (apparently mine is the UK-version).

Here's a video of someone leafing through the other version (the one without the slip-case)...

As in "If you really want to get in you'll have to smash the entire window frame and half the wall", that's the kind of lock. ;)

^Ah! -Luckily I only need those toward the yard, where there's no light and no one would see if you're up to no good over in that hidden corner where my window is.

ETA:

This reminds me: I just bought insurance... for the first time in my life :scream: :bolian:
