Your latest purchases, cont.

No worries, I only leave TNZ... let's say 'occasionally'
My god! He's in gen-pop again! AHHHHHH!

Forgive me if that sounds like a really stupid question, but what do you actually do with them? Or are you more of a nostalgic PDA collector? ;)
Not a stupid question at all, I get it a lot actually.

The Qtek (left) is basically a mobile diagnostic terminal (Windows Server and OBD-2+Logger). Running Windows Mobile 6.5. And I'm currently building a working Android Froyo port on the Oxygen (right).

I'm by no means a collector, every piece of technology i have has a specific use. My old HTC Blueangel (Dec-2004) is working as a DJ in my team's Chevy van (running WM6.1 TouchFLO).

My HTC Kaiser (April-2008), running Android, is currently my work phone, replacing my San Francisco. So I use that one more or less every day.

Most of my other devices are hooked up to my smarthome system and are used as remotes. My HTC Wallaby (AUG-2002) was recently retired because of a (far) too slow cpu.

^ gen-pop are the normal boards. shu or ad-seg is TNZ.

btw, just ordered a left front fender and left door to a Peugeot 205. also a hood made out of carbon fiber.

Here is my new hat.

Cool! I've heard a lot from PDA/smartphone savvy people about the customizability in terms of alternative mobile OSs, but I've never actually seen it in action. :techman:

I'd be totally into a smarthome system, unfortunately, I don't think I'd be able to convince my roommates that they need to evolve beyond the stone age

I was wandering Borders yesterday looking for something I was willing to buy. I found this. I had seen the trailer for the upcoming movie and was intrigued. So when I saw this hardcover, I decided it was well worth the $20 the sale put the price at.

Does paying for a plumber count?
Well, that depends on how you chose to... reimburse him.

Wait, I must have confused reality with a bad porn script. Again.

Uhm, anyway, my latest purchase: Just ordered a shiny new Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone since my trusty old Motorola MOTORAZR V9 is in the process of dying a horrible, horrible tech-death.

So. Happy. <3
It's here, arrived earlier today, and THIS THING IS A FUCKING BEAST. Slick, super powerful and it looks freaking gorgeous.

^ My It security teacher has one. Its officially the best phone i've ever used.

Crank it up to 1.5ghz and flash CyanogenMod and it'll run like a dream. The dual core Cortex beats pretty much anything on the market.
Hell, you're even getting Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 2.4)

Bought a vintage desk fan, from the 1930s. I replaced the cord and oiled it, and it runs quiet on all 3 speeds. Still needs some cosmetic work.

Huge fan of vintage stuff. Looks great!

I have a thing for the 40's and 50's though. But recently also the 70's.

Not really a purchase, it was an adoption fee: I got a new kitten today at PetSmart! Pics are in the Picture thread.

Got a Kindle for my birthday, too. :D

A bottle of Chanel perfume for my girlfriend and 50 pounds worth of books on Amazon for myself

Awesome :techman:

Got a new tie as a present yesterday. Very happy about it, I've wanted a pink tie for a long time now.

I know, the shirt is kinda shitty because of the collar (too wide) and the lack of, well, fit ;) I'll get a couple of plain white shirts tailor-made as soon as my budget allows (probably next month ).

Also, I still can't do anything more than a four-in-hand knot - kinda embarassing.

So what say you, Holdfast? Thumbs up on that tie or what? :D
