For me, it's a toss-up between Wrath of Khan, Undiscovered Country, and Beyond. Whichever one is first, First Contact is second.
Wouldn't that make First Contact fourth?

If you value your safety, you should know better than to use the "M" word around here...![]()
The Search For Spock. I think it's just a lovely film. It really shows the Enterprise crew as the close knit group that we know or want them to be: A family. It's full of great character moments (everyone gets their moment in the limelight), and some really hard-hitting emotional punches: Sarek and Kirk's mind meld (Shatner's best acting, in my opinion); Saavik helping Spock with his Pon Farr; the death of David (Shatner's second best moment); the death of the Enterprise; the resurrection of Spock.
Plus, the Star Trek universe is really opened up in this film: so many new ships, space stations, locations. Yes, there are some clunky bits and cheap-looking sets, but I think these are far outweighed by everything else. And: Robin Curtis is my favourite Saavik!
Wonderful!
TFF and Nemesis are both getting no love on this thread.
Good.

Star Trek (2009). It renewed my love of Star Trek after a long dormancy and I have shown it to plenty of friends to get them interested in the universe.
I love TFF and Nemesis. I'd watch either before TUC.
Oh and I think Beyond is the best of the prequels. Loved it!
2009 was very good.
I'm just in love with Jaylah.
TFF: there's a good movie in there trying to get out. I can enjoy it from time to time.
NEM: yuck

I have the opposite view. Personally, any movie that can be summed up as "The egotistical director's self-insert fights God and wins!" can't be that good. It can be done right (when the stars align and the moon is blue and SEGA makes a good decision), but TFF was not an example of this.
Since it wasn't "God" who Kirk and crew ended up being in conflict with, I'm not sure how this comment is relevant. Also, if "Captain vs. False God" is a cause for dislike of a Star Trek story...I'm not sure how you can call yourself a fan since this was a common trope.
There are plenty of reasons to criticize TFF, but this one never held water for me.
My favorite movies are The Untouchables. This is an old movie but with a very deeps sense and a lot of action. I enjoyed very much watching this movie. I think that I have already watched it 6 times since 2015. But, to be honest, in 2021, there is no excellent or engaging movie to watch. I think that all this happened due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation. Anyway, I am waiting for a lot of exciting movies to appear in 2022. *snip* So, this platform is posting the latest and most exciting movies with the most significant ratings.
I think this thread is about what you're favorite Star Trek film is.
