Yes, they eventually did a series in Australia focused on a new incarnation of K-9.
The K-9 series came out in 2009-2010.
I watched the whole Australian K9 series a few years ago. Looking at the plot summaries on wikipedia now, I find I've forgotten most of it already. Inoffensive but far from essential. But I'm the guy who buys things like the Erimem books. (She was a companion of the Fifth Doctor in a run of Big Finish audios.)
More an observation than an opinion: Remember when Matt Smith had just started, and everybody and their brother seemed to be declaring that “Matt Smith is my Doctor!” Weird how that all faded away — especially since, to a large extent, I’d say a lot of Smith’s run (by no means all of it) really was pretty special.
Yup, he's still favorite modern Doctor. No one will ever top Tom Baker but Matt Smith came pretty close.

Capaldi ended up getting close as well, which isn’t surprising.
But I think it *was* surprising how truly Doctorish Smith turned out to be which just gets him bonus points.
Smith and Capaldi are the only two playing the same guy as the classic Doctors really tbh. It is admittedly also in their ‘arcs’ as to why, but I think it’s not just the writing.
Tennant was thinking about it, but those two put it on screen.
That tracks. To me, Smith is very Troughton, and Capaldi (at least series 9 onward) is Smtih in an old man's body. I wish Whittaker had played it more like Smith.
Interesting. I find Smith and Whittaker the most "alien" of Doctors. I just wish her stories were of the same caliber.
Smith is my favorite ModDoc.
Capaldi channeled Jon and Tom hard at times.
