You old FART!

I remember the commodore 64............................ when it first came out.

I remember the Commodore 16 from when it first came out. In fact, the one I own from back then is still in the loft at my parents house.

And it always makes me feel old when I'm reminded that Metallica's ...And Justice For All album is 21 years old. It's the first album I ever bought.

Indeed it is. One of the best ever written, IMO, and the album that inspired me to pick up a guitar and learn how to play it. :)

Jeez, what makes me an "old fart"?

* Graduating from high school 26 years ago.
* Graduating from University 22 years ago.
* My youngest son is now 19 ... ... ... :shifty:

Where's my old fart sign?

33 1/3, but I had some old 78s as well. Good thing the phonographs of that time had multiple speed settings.

I used to hate putting a record on the turntable and the only audible sound was what was emanating from the surface of the record. I could never figure out how to get the sound to come out of the speakers.

My old brother still has the soundtracks of both Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back on LP

The only LP soundtrack I still have is TMP...I haven't played it since..well..forever...But I still have it...I love the Album cover. For all of TMP's problems, I still thing that poster with Kirk-Spock-Ilya's head and the blurry effect is the best of the TREK movie posers...

^^^^just kidding!

I do remember loading computer games on my friends Atari 800 on tape cassette.

I have spent more of my life after high school than before it.

I remember when the newest Star Trek was TWOK.

For that matter, I remember the buzz about a new Star Trek movie back in 1978.

I remember when a space launch was a rocket. I remember watching the parachutes open up for "splash down."

I remember the uproar from my parents when gas prices went over a dollar a gallon.

I remember a push to change the US to metrics.

I remember the time I met Moses.

Yes, I was babysitting him at the time. You two were so damn noisy! And parting the bathtub water was just WAY out of line!

And oh, yes ... "think metric!" I remember those days.

Not to mention:

Buckle up for safety, buckle up!
Buckle up for safety, come on, buckle up!
Pull your seat belt snug,
Give an extra tug!
Buckle up for safety
Everybody, buckle up!

I remember that! Argh! I remember my first portable stereo. It came in 2 pieces for stereo and had 8 track.

I still have my 8-Tracks and player packed away in a closet. :rommie:

I was going through some stuff this weekend and found three of them....now don't laugh!!!..I have a JACKSON FIVE...a DOORS...and a BARRY MANILOW...just no way to play them, which may be a good thing for 2/3 of them...

I remember watching TOS first run.

I remember watching Neil Armstrong walk on the moon live.

No cable TV. All we had was a black and white TV with a roof antenna. I had to climb a tree next to the house and jump over to the roof so I could turn the antenna depending on which of the six or seven available channels I wanted to watch.

No video games. Not even pong.

No cell phones. Just big, clunky, corded dial phones.

No MP3 players. Just transistor radios.

No PC's or Macs. Just pencil and paper.

No big movie theater multiplexes. Just the local cinema or the drive-in, both with just one screen.

It was a simpler time. I read a lot more books. I spent a lot of time outside. My best friend and I built a raft and sailed it down the stream behind his house to a nearby lake. We used our imaginations and made our own fun. It was a better time I think.

^^ I agree; in many ways, it was.

I don't remember all of what I have, but it would be some of these: Jesus Christ, Superstar, Best Of Peter, Paul and Mary, some Simon & Garfunkel, Donovan, some Harry Nillson, some Warren Zevon, Bat Out Of Hell, various Beatles collections. I think the last 8-Tracks I bought were the first Pretenders and the first Knack albums.
