You know what REALLY SUCKS about TOS???

The only thing about "Omega Glory" that I found overly cheesy was that it was yet another "parallel planet development" situation like "Bread and Circuses" where another planet somewhwere in the galaxy developed almost exactly like Earth including languages. Wow. Runon sentence:). Other than that, it was a pretty decent episode. And since I am American, I didn't really think much aboout the Constitution references. It just seemed natural.

God bless the colonies!!!

No, not a run-on sentence. Just a long one. Yes, I thought “The Omega Glory” took the “parallel development” concept to ridiculous extremes, even for Star Trek. It would have worked better as a “parallel universe” or an “alternate history created by some bozo mucking about with time travel” kind of story.

Funny, I find it easier to accept a planet form a parallel universe intruding into present day space via unnamed & unexplained event horizon singularities than, oh, peeps speaking ENGLISH on Triskellion.:guffaw:

You must watch Doctor Who! It's awesome!!!

Really, it is. Great show. I didn't think I'd like the newest Doctor at first, but he kinda grows on ya.

Everyone says that- I'll have to see it sometime.

Me too. If I had the money, I'd go back to the beginning with the DVD's (I assume every episode going back to 1963 is available? The minimal research I've done suggests that's the case) and watch the whole thing, but at the moment there are too many DVD's coming out in the next six months that I'm already familiar with (and looking forward to) and that my money is promised to.

Maybe next year.

Unfortunately, not only is the complete series not available, but tons of old classic episodes have been lost forever. Can you imagine Parmount announcing that most of the first season of classic Star Trek has been lost and will never be viewed again?

Spock's Brain and Turnabout Intruder are the low points of TOS for me. The best thing about Spock's Brain is Nimoy's acting, he does an incredible zombie impression, even his eyes look dead. The less said about Turnabout Intruder, the better.

As stated above, too many humanoids. I loved the Horta and the Tholians, and it would be great to see more not humanoid aliens. I know, though, that most stories would not make sense if the aliens were completely different, and there is the matter of budget, too.

The fact that they called every Supernova "Nova". If I remember correctly, Nova is a white dwarf consuming matter from a neighboring star, and the explosion of a star is a Supernova. I might be wrong, though...

That every alien speaks English can be explained with the Universal Translator, but when Spock said that their speaking English is an amazing parallel, I could just not accept it. The only thing I could accept less than that, is the extreme parallel in "The Omega Glory". At least in "A Piece of the Action" they had a very serious and plausible reason for being too Earth-like...

"Spock's Brain" is great comedy. For me "Specter of the Gun" is the low point of TOS. It was like they were just trying to get through the day. At least "Spock's Brain" makes you laugh. Anytime they took themselves too seriously, they got into trouble. IMHO, of course.

No, “The Trouble with Tribbles” is great comedy. “Spock's Brain” is an episode that should have been a comedy, only someone forgot to tell the director.

Okay, so aliens forcing Kirk and company to re-enact the gunfight at the OK Corral was a lame story idea. But the episode was a triumph of style over substance. By contrast, “The Empath” was all style and no substance.

I re-watched "The Empath" not too long ago, and I really thought I would cry. :(
