Unfortunately, a certain lawsuit has caused the actor who was going to play Admiral Eastcott to drop out of the film. I won't name who the actor was, but I completely understand why someone who has worked on official Star Trek productions might not want to appear in a fan film at this time. Fortunately we were able to recast the role with another actor, and we will be filming the scene this Saturday.

2 weeks ago, we finished filming the Admiral Eastcott scene. This was the last major scene need to be filmed to finished Yorktown. Actor Mark Eliot (Stand and Deliver) played the role. We filmed the scene in LA, and he did a fantastic job.

Yep. Now its just all the FX work to get done. Roland Baron is doing the majority of the FX (starship stuff), and I will likely have to find a few artists to help with some of the other FX stuff.

And we thought the wait for "The Tressaurian Intersection" was a long one!;)

Seriously though, hope we get to see this completed. Waiting (relatively) patiently.

Is that a final composite? The background looks pretty CGI.

The main issue that stands out to me is that the live-action element isn't as contrasty as the CG. If the shadows were darkened it would look better.

I don't know what picture you are looking at to suggest that.

If you look at the image of the Klingon in the cockpit the black levels of the CG are fine, but the darkest color in the live-action element is gray. It should be a simple fix and would help immensely.

No, that picture of the klingon was just a "mock up" picture done the day we put the background together.

Here is a picture of what he looks like (at present) inserted into the film.

    Okay. Thanks.

You may already be planning something like this, but if not, you might consider this extra bit to really sell him being in that virtual set. You could reflect his element in those two shiny bands on the console top and blur the hell out of said reflection. As he moves so will the reflection, and it'll help marry the images together, like so:

Below is the reflection unblurred so you can see what I was doing before slapping the filter on.
