X-MEN: FIRST CLASS (Casting, Rumors, Pics till release)

An antihero isn't necessarily a "bad guy" in the sense of a lawbreaker, but in the sense of someone who's unfriendly, mean, disreputable, or generally a jerk. Dr. House is an antihero, for example. Alan Shore from Boston Legal was an antihero, and so was Denny Crane, depending on your sensibilities. Indeed, lots of shows today seem to center on protagonists who are unbearable jerks.

Still, I would agree that it's an overstatement to call Mulder an antihero. He wasn't a jerk or a cad, just an obsessive nerd. He was an anti-establishment figure, but in the sense of, as you say, a noble underdog rather than someone who callously ignores society's rules like House does.

Nice trailer!

Wolverine left me feeling a bit cold and had originally put me off another Origins movies. Having Brian Singer and Matthew Vaughn involved has brought me round though, and that trailer made me much more enthusiastic. Can't wait!

That's because you guys are relating it to the wrong subject. Fox Mulder's name was thrown into the ring in reply as "not leading man material" based on appearance and personality of the character as described by Beaker of Death, not that he was an anti-hero. I did leave that questionable upon individual veiwpoint.

Does anyone think that Michael Fassbender is going to steal the show? The movie needs its Hugh Jackman, and I have a feeling Magneto will become this series' Wolverine.
Yes but I hope not completely.

I walked into X-Men 1 thinking Patrick Stewart would steal the show and was pleasantly surprised when Jackman did instead. Alan Cummings stole X2 IMO & Kelsey Grammer in X3. While I expect Fassbender to be good, I'm hoping another actor in it will surpise us all again and steal this one.

Don't give Fox any ideas. If this movie tanks, the next one will have Hugh Jackman playing Magneto!

If this film tanks, all they'll be able to afford is Adam Sandler as Magneto.

Maybe it will be Nicholas Hoult's Beast or Kevin Bacon's Shaw or even Oliver Platt's Man in Black.

I would be surprised if it was a wild card, like the dude playing Azezel.

I think the cast overall is extremely strong. The fact that we've already pointed out like half of them to scene steal is I think a big compliment to the casting. I'm interested in seeing Rose Bryne as Moria and Lucas Till as Alex Summers. You know I was thinking it'd be easy to explain the age thing by making him Scott and Alex father by saying his name as Christopher Alex Summers, but he goes by Alex :) That's what I'd do.

^Not busty enough.

:wtf:

Not saying Betty Draper doesn't have a nice rack, because sure they're ample and "they're real and they're spectacular" but if it was still Alice Eve in the role, then those would definitely be breaking out. Judging from that picture, I'd say January is probably a 38B cup, but I am not a boob connoisseur, so what do I know.
Good thing they didn't go with an actress with novelty sized breasts. I like January in this role though. Can't wait to see her in an action role for once.

I think this topic of discussion will have to be continued in the TV & Media forum on June 3. Just saying... ;)

I think they're just going to fudge the timeline in this universe and make Alex Scott's father, and completely eliminate Christopher Summers from the timeline. Which is kinda irksome, but I understand why they'd want to do that, if it turns out to be true. It's not like they're ever going to deal with the Shi'ar or the Starjammers.
