Also Beast is fully blue in this movie, even though this movie takes place before X2 when we saw a cameo of Hank McCoy.
According to this interview with Bacon, they're also ignoring how Shaws powers really work too.^ Wanda and Pietro showing up on that screen was just an easter egg. As for continuity Singer and Vaughn are ignoring X-Men 3 and what we saw in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine".

I thought it was the same actor playing Colossus? Also Beast is fully blue in this movie, even though this movie takes place before X2 when we saw a cameo of Hank McCoy.
And that Hank McCoy was played by a different actor than played the role in X3 (Kelsey Grammer), just as different actors played Colossus in each. No point getting too hung up about it.
Well nobody could forsee fucking up the X-Men so badly they'd have little choice but to go backwards instead of forward. If X1 was an origin film, then X3 still ends all potential of the films going anywhere. We already know that the first X-Men film would have been better served had it been a straight up origin movie (uh-oh I said that nasty word again...origin) but Singer chose to have the X-Men already established. Thus as always when doing prequel films, continuity becomes a little messy.
Which I agree with Trent, looks half assed. You mean no one could foresee Zak Penn and Brett Ratner ruining what should have been a viable franchise to the point where Fox decided to make prequels. Then they messed up the Wolverine movie. Singer wrote a treatment, almost directed himself and voila we have "X-Men:First Class".
Based on the photos & interviews I've read.Still doesn't explain why or how you two think this movie is "half-assed".
A badly photoshopped cast photo is a bad choice if you wanna convince a twiced burned audience that this is going to be a film worth paying for because it's just creating bad word of mouth.^ All of what JA just posted is why I'm also excited. I understand the hesitations from fans but we've barely seen anything from the production except on set still photos and a cast photo.
