It just seems odd that jlaw is now mystic even thou that should be Rebecca....

Mystique can make herself however old or young as she wants. And unlike most characters, she can basically be played by anybody and still be Mystique (not to diminish Lawrence's efforts, however. I like that the movie started to merge this incarnation with Rebecca Romijn's version by using the latter's fighting style).

Anyway, I'm just glad that Kelsey Grammer returned, albeit for a cameo. Originally, the producers had a much larger part for him in mind, but scheduling conflicts with Transformers meant Grammer had to decline. If he could have devoted full time to the movie, I wonder if he would've gotten an X-poster with Hoult for promotion, like Fassy/McKellen and McAvoy/Stewart.

In First Class they said that her genetics were really durable and that she would barely look 30 by the next millennium, which is how they explained away Rebecca seeming to be slightly younger than Patrick and Ian.

Was that really Grammer? In the half-second he was on screen, it looked like a bad Kelsey Grammer mask combined with some poorly impersonated ADR.

I'd love to be wrong, though.

I seem to remember seeing his name in the credits. He is listed at IMDb, but they list him as "un-credited". However, they also list James Marsden/Cyclops as "uncredited" and I know I saw his name in the credits.

I looked for Garmmer in the credits as well but couldn't spot him. Then again, they were scrolling by at lightning speed...

Clearly, an excuse to go see the movie again! :D

I'm curious as to wether or not Logan will have his adamentium skeleton/claws in this new timeline.
It was clear that it was Mystique who took Logan away after they got him out of the water, but to where and whom?

The pace at which she ages is odd.

At what stage of maturity is each aspect (actress) corresponding to which exact personal ranges of chronological age?

Rebecca seems like 30 to 40, while Jennifer seems like 15 to 25... Even though the character is pushing 40 in 1973, just like Charles is.

In movie time there's an 11 year gap between the two movies.

In real time there's been a 3 year gap between the two movies.

The actors real ages don't exactly correspond any-more considering the magic 9 year cushion.

Either Jim was playing a man nine years older than he is in first class, or he is playing a man nine years young than he is in Days of Future Past if the character aged 11 years between the two movies and Jim only aged 3 if "their" physical" appearance is a true reflection of "their" age.

It's possible that the crawl at which she matures is so slow that even in the first movies starting 14 years ago, she did still look like Jennifer Lawrence but was sick of being a called a child so compromised her position in exactly the same way that Rebecca had a brief cameo in First Class.

I liked the scene in Saigon where Mystique rescues mutants but I'm kind of surprised it's there.. it really had (as far as I can tell) little to do with the plot of the film aide from the fact that thi is how she finds out about Trask

Not to mention that it still feels odd that a character who was just a glorified henchwoman in the first three movies is now so incredibly pivotal and crucial to the story for some reason.
That reason is Jennifer Lawrence.

It was weird seeing Jennifer Lawrence in this movie. Granted, I know she played Mystique in First Class, but even then I forgot she was in that movie. Now that's she's becoming Hollywood's favorite actress and I see her mainly as Katniss Everdeen, I almost think she has outgrown X-Men. Now I wish they would have cast someone else (like Summer Glau) as Mystique, and I like Jennifer Lawrence.

Summer Glau is an ok TV actress with a fairly limited range but a pretty big step-down from Lawrence.

Indeed. And I don't see h ow JLaw his "outgrown" X-Men considering right now comic-book movies are pretty much all the rage and actually many in Hollywood would love the chance to do them. So I'm sure JLaw is fine being attached to the X-Men franchise.

Yeah, she seems to be doing the right mix of big budget tentpole films and smaller dramas to secure a long and fruitful career. Sometimes after an Oscar win actors will either go entirely the arthouse route seeking more accolades or entirely the big budget route seeking more money and fame. She seems to have found a good balance between the two.

Leaving Quicksilver behind was a head-scratcher.

With Mystique being Stryker at the end does that mean Logan doesn't become Weapon X?

Yeah, leaving Quicksilver behind was an odd choice. I would think what he pulled off in the Pentagon kitchen should've been a very good indicator on what an asset he could be. But we could argue at that point Xavier was still pretty unwilling to let himself get attached to other mutants, particularly younger ones. Would've have been nice to see an aged Quicksilver in the school at the end as Wolverine walks down the halls.

Yeah, they really could have used Quicksilver at the end. Especially with how understaffed they were during the final mission. But maybe QS just didn't want to go after further.

I haven't seen the film yet, but if they're establishing that historical figures were mutants...then I propose that the Elvis who died in 1977 was really Mystique, and the Mystique who's been causing trouble since then is really Elvis.
