All set to a classic song from that decade. The Quicksilver sequence was amazing, again, and i love how they repeated the perfect mix of action, heavy CGI and humor again for this piece.

Not probably. I'd argue the film makes it pretty clear she was not willingly working for Stryker. Just because no one spells it out in dialogue doesn't mean it isn't used as a story element.Even the fact that she's probably an unwilling lackey because Stryker was using a control serum isn't brought up when it could have been a useful script element.

Agreed. She got much the same treatment as Kelly Hu did in the first X-Men
We already know that Jean isn't going to meet a tragic end this time, we just don't know how. Professor Xavier is encouraging her to embrace her powers rather than deny them as he did in the first timeline. They should have shown an image of apocalypse stirring when Logan bounced in time to show that this why he's waking now although the cult could have grown up because of the more positive vibes about mutants. As it stands, everything in the movie should have happened first time round.Saw it and gave it a B, good effort and i loved seeing all those characters i loved back when i was reading comics (always been a fan of Olivia Munn and she is the perfect casting choice for Psylocke who is awesome in the movie).
Actually yelled out when Jean went full on Phoenix Force, that was one heck of a moment and i seem to remember speculation that future movies might revolve around the Phoenix Force storyline ffrom the comics (and hopefulyl including the tragic end).
I also liked Apocalypse much but villains of such magnitude always seem to fall short when they only appear in a single movie.. first act building up, second act reveal of their masterplan and third act massive CGI battle and defeat. Apocalypse is X-Men's version of Thanos or some other galaxy level threat and the Age of Apocalypse is one of the defining storylines of X-Men alongside Days of Future Past so a slower buildup over two or even three movies might have given Apocalypse more oomph.

I agree with previous comments that they should have kept Wolverine's appearance a secret but apparently marketing couldn't resist using Jackman/Wolverine to drum up buzz.. shame, this way anybody who's even remotely followed the movie and saw the trailers was spoiled.
All considered a very soilid film with some hell yeah moments (mostly for comic book fans who knew these characters for decades). I'll be curious to see what they come up with for the next movies now that the main cast seems to be done but most of them have expressed interest if the script is good (and this time i believe it because it seems the actors had much fun working on the movies judging by the interviews i saw and the stories surrounding the production) and i'd like to see the new characters/actors get their moment in the light (such as Cyclops slowly growing into his command role).

I'm not sure how much of that is hyperbole but I suppose it would be the final insult to all pretense of continuity...Singer says that anything is possible... anyone can die!
I think making it an ET that merged with her is a good way to give them an out. At this point, they've killed her once already. I'm not sure that killing her again, 'but this time we'll make it cooler,' would really add that much. I'd far sooner see what a post-Phoenix Jean looks like. This might only be because Xavier thinks she can learn to control it, they don't even know it's an extraterrestrial entity that's using Jean (assuming the movie follows the comic roots).
It is one of the most memorable X-Men storylines because a central character dies (back in the day where that actually surprised and shocked readers) and the long lasting effects it had on the team and some characters. Depending on how the producers/director/writers want to go they could follow the original story but i doub't they'd want to introduce the Shi'Ar but Jean sacrificing herself to end this uncontrollable power could make for one powerful scene.
