^^True enough about the PS3. I have the whole Playstation Network, but fuck if I know what I'm supposed to do with it.

- The PS3 is more powerful. Depending on who you talk to it's not a big difference and is made up for by the fact that the 360 is easier to program for.
- It has a Blu-Ray drive. I know you have said you don't care about that particular feature but if you have an HDTV it's a nice bonus.
- The 360 is cheaper. If you're price sensitive and don't own an HDTV (in which case the Blu-Ray does become a useless feature) buy one of the cheaper 360s.
- The controller. I prefer the 360 to the PS3 by a small margin. Some people prefer the dual shock. Find out which you find more comfortable.

I have an HDTV with a good dvd player. What do you mean that PS3 is more powerful?
Yeah...but I'm not really interested in playing games online. Maybe if I had some friends with a PS3 who wanted to play with me, but I'm not big on playing with random people I don't know.^^True enough about the PS3. Put a game in the console. Log on to the network. Play said game online over the network.
See, wasn't that's simple?(I'm just messing with you Salt, please don't take personal offense.

The PS3 architecture is far beyond the 360-lots more graphic processing power. My friend at Cryptic hates programming for it, though, because it takes about 4x longer than the 360. You should hear him swear when he talks about trying to set-up background graphics for the PS3!
If your mainly into FPS.... It would seem the XBOX has the edge in terms of these. Although, for how much longer? I dont know, dont forget that Killzone 2 is released in February, this games graphics will blow any other FPS's out of the water.
I personally got the PS3, why? Due to the following:
I think on the whole if you look at it...it works out cheaper. Straight away the online is free. Straight away, it has built in wi-fi.
Xbox wifi is about £50, and yearly LIVE is around £40 or sometimes more. So theres £90 added on to an Xbox, and if you get an elite in the UK which are £229, its gonna cost more than a PS3 in the first year online.
In the UK now you can get a 80gb PS3 with pad, Resistance 2 (fps), motorstorm 2 and littlebigplanet for £283 at argos...and if you know any1 one works at argos (I do) you can get it discounted to £250. Bargain.
Add to the fact I have a big HDTV and wanted blu-ray to go along with it, its clear to see why I chose the PS3. I bought it over a year ago, the 60gb version, had no problems whatsoever, can have it turned on for weeks and weeks and it will never freeze, break or overheat. This, of course is from my own personal experience.
I can see why people like the xbox... cheaper, erm.... and a couple of decent exclusive games but I really think that the PS3 overall will easily be around longer and will also be the better, for me at least. I also hate the fact how everything you buy with the XBox has to be mostly microsofts.... the headsets, the wireless adapters... whereas with the PS3 you can use any bluetooth headset, yeh including the one you use for your phone now, etc etc.
Again, whats best for you? Long-term i'd say PS3 by a mile, short-term if your strapped for cash and simply need to play HALO or GEARS, Xbox is the way I guess.
EDIT - Also, since you love FPS's... Resistance 2 is simply amazing online. 30v30 battles online with no lag or errors. Its stunning. 60man battles I dont think have been done on the Xbox, and there are games coming up which are going to use 256man battles etc. So clearly the grand scope of things is just beginning on the PS3, FPS or not. So really, again its up to you.
Simple rukl of thumb....
360 for single player or split screen games only.
PS3 for all other multiplat and online games.
That means you can enjoy the best of both worlds and you wont have to pay a yearly sub to play the online portion of any 360 game.
If the PS3 had anything beyond Blu-Ray worth offering... your post would still be backwards.
Sony's free online service is free for a reason, it's shitty and
doesn't offer you near the community or options that LIVE does.
I hope LIVE is never free, I prefer to pay for something
and actually get useful features and a playable online service.
It's less than 10 bucks a month, and it's not even a monthly thing to pay.
For the cost of one game you get an entire year of worthwhile online play.
Oh and besides actually playing online the rest of the features are free.

Not true, RSX is inferior to the X360 GPU. Nvidia were brought on late to the project and pressed a largely off-the-shelf PC GeForce 7900 into service after Sony figured out that Dual Cell wasn't going to cut it in the graphics department, not in the presence of a competitor like X360 using a more conventional architecture.
If we go by what we've seen in the past, then PS3 is likely to outdo the 360 in terms of visual over time as developers get the hang of it. I'm not sure what generation of games the 360 is into now but I'd expect there isn't huge room for improvement left. The PS3 is likely to have quite a few more tricks up its sleeve and will be likely to show as time passes.
According to my pal Roman over at Cryptic, programming the xbox graphics is easier but if they take the time, they can get a significant improvement out of the PS3-its just a bitch to make it all work properly. I don't program, or play with computer hardware, so I'm just going off of what he told me.
