WTF?! Idiotic utilities.... we know but we don't care.

So today I'm at home, and the water isn't on, 10 minutes before it was, now it's not... look out and see the a water company truck pull away. Call the water company, no overdue bills, check online, not overdue. When I called them they tell me that they moved to a new system and that they are still updating their records and that my water should not of been turned off. They say it will be back on today... got home a short while ago and it is still off.

Not the first time it's been turned off when it wasn't supposed to. When I first moved in I called and set up a new account, the water was turned off. Didn't even know until I came home Saturday morning... called office hours are M-F. So I cut the lock off myself and turned the water on. They threatened me charges off theft of utilities and destruction of property and tampering with a meter or some crap like that. So go down the office and show them the new account paperwork... ooops... the contractor never paid his final bill so they shut it off, even though it was in my name... fuckers...

So here I am no water again because someone fucked up and they don't care...

I don't have to pay for water. Our water usage isn't metered though there is a yearly fee for people who aren't in Housing Department homes.

At the moment I believe the landlord is responsible for the water bill. Once water meters are installed on all properties in Southern Tasmania the landlord will be responsible for fixed costs and the tenant for the water they use (if they are not in government housing).

We're going to start being charged for our water usage here in Fresno, meters recently installed and everything. We were paying a flat rate for water and trash. Of course, we're assured that this won't raise our payments. Uh huh. Right.

Water in my building is not metered separately so the landlord pays it. I just have to pay for the natural gas used to heat it.

Lately I've been having trouble staying away from a puzzle game called "Paintball" that the cable/internet company has remotely installed on the STB I'm using.

I think I've nearly exhausted the batteries in the remote.

Is this thread officially derailed?

Perhaps back on topic:

The combined water/sewer removal bill appears to be fairly accurate every month, but over the last couple of years there have been huge increases on the fixed monthly charges. As a result it's still a pretty substantial expense, even though I'm pretty conservative about my water consumption. I'm hesitant to imagine what someone with a large family has to pay sippling water to their dishwasher and clothes/linen washer.
