I have the first 3 or 4 set of categories collapsed tbh so I don't even see them. I used to post there during my first weeks here but then I figured where's the point?

In the TOS forum I can't post since I don't know every single TOS episode by heart.
In the TNG forum I don't want to spend my time ranking episodes.
In the DS9 forum I don't want to continue lame discussions about feminism with Rush Limborg.
In the VOY forum I don't want to get yelled at by the die hard Kate Mulgrew groupies (fangirls) just because I happen to find Mulgrew neither sexy nor in any way interesting.
And Enterprise? I'd post there but I'd feel pretty alone. :p

I don't see a problem with it. There is no current Trek on TV but there are other series. I post a lot in the Doctor Who forum, well, more read than post, but I like the discussion there better than other places, great group of posters. So, why would I got elsewhere just because it's not Trek related?

Also, the non-Trek traffic might help keep the board alive during these years with no ongoing Trek TV series.

Gaming: 8 (i'm sorry, can't help it, get a life)

Ok so people who are gaming have no life while chatting away in miscellaneous about nothing is time well spent?

Get your head out your arse and your priorities straight and quit worrying about what other people are doing with their time.

What the FUCK has happened to this board???

The numbers you posted look normal to me. It has been that way for the past two years at least (excluding the temporary distortion when ST:XI was released).

I don't know if it counts members only or includes non-members too. If the latter, it may simple be google hits. I imagine there are more people around the world googling for Dr Who than Star Trek... and google will inevitably pull some hits from SF&F.

Given that we've lost a few members recently, I honestly thought someone had died.

The OP's just mad because people are talking about stuff on a message board? Huh?

I want to say, in response to the final question in the OP, I am a part of TrekBBS BECAUSE of the diversity of forums here. Trek may have drawn me in here because of the site's name, but I read and post in many of the forums because I love BUFFY and FIREFLY and LOST and (now more than ever) DOCTOR WHO and nuBSG and OLD BSG, etc, etc,.....

This is a pretty cool & interesting site and I always encourage my friends to check it out because of the wide range of topics that get covered here. I appreciate the science news topics that come up, the discussion of Wonder Woman's new costume, and what moronic things both Palin and Weiner are doing and saying.

This is a great site and I enjoy the discussions of so many subjects beyond the expression of my intense desire for a not-so-much-a-brewery-looking engine room in Star Trek 2012! :)

to have the majority of people posting about fucking BUFFY!

While I'm sure many of us have imagined fucking Buffy at one time or another, that is not actually what most of the discussion is about.

If you don't happen to like the show (or, more commonly, haven't seen enough to have a valid impression but have prejudged the series anyway) that's fine, but like any other quality SF/F series there's still lots of discussion to be had.

Is that why you signed up on TREK BBS?

Well, I can certainly say it wasn't so I could have one guy try to dictate to me what fora I "should" be viewing.

I came here years ago for the Trek. I left because it got rough and I lost interest. When I came back I found a better board and broader interests here. Trek is great but it's not the only thing I'm interested in by a long shot. I'm glad there are places here to talk about other science fiction (and other aspects of our lives).

Geekdom does not live by Trek alone. :p

How silly of me to imagine that this thread might be about something that actually matters.

Yeah, I thought it was going to be about someone dying or something with that title.

Well, I will apologize for misleading you that way. Not my intent at all.

And of course, for the others, some of you who I thought knew me a little better, there are some talented, creative people in the Art department. I was ranting.

And of course I see the irony of a guy posting on TBBS telling gamers to get a life. I guess it's hard to mix angry and silly and make it clear which is which.

Sorry that I stepped on a few toes making my point. I get that this is a somewhat unpopular post.

But 67 to 11?

And Sephiroth , feel free to cuss me out in any TNZ thread. I can take it.

LoB, I agree, I think this is a great board or I wouldn't still be here.

Go ahead and, as was said, point and laugh. It was a vile post and I deserve it. Not that it matters, but it was late and I was angry and I blew off steam at people who didn't have it coming. I specifically apologize to the arties for bashing creativity in any healthy form.

In a less pissy state I should have posted something like, "Why is everyone clumped in SF&F?" Someone said it's been this way for two years. Guess I've never noticed since I never go to SF&F. I miss the days of 40 in TNZ, 60 in MISC, dozens in the AL... but I guess I just need to wedge something girthful into my asshole to loosen it up a bit.

Anyway, I apologize to those I pissed off or hurt feelings without any basis whatsoever.

In that case, ThankQ, I'm going to shut this down since the main issue seems to be resolved and everyone got a word in edgewise. That way we can avoid anyone saying anything they might regret if they miss your subsequent post (thank you for that, btw).
