I’d like to see Admiral Archer depicted in some iteration.
after the amazing season that was Picard Season 3 (unless they really screw up the finale which i doubt), Enterprise deserves a one season (10 part event) to give them a truly proper send off. They got shafted royally with their finale of TATV.
Who says it needs to be three? Even though it would finally get them to seven seasons.
A 10-part miniseries is fine. Even the Save Enterprise campaign all the way back in 2005 was content with a tv movie and had nothing grander than that in mind.
DS9's series finale is second or tied with TNGs for me. Plus, it ends on a somber note unlike any of the other official "series finales".I could not agree more. The three major things that have bothered me the most with Trek universe have been.....
1. Original TOS cancellation.
The movie run and Undiscovered Country fixed this. They went out on a high note.
2. TNG cast going out after Nemesis.
All Good Things was awesome, Nemesis not. Hopefully, Picard fixes this (knock on wood).
3. Enterprise Finale.
Terra Prime (and S3-S4 in general) were good IMHO. But TATV was a bummer. Having Riker & Troi do it seemed disrespectful. Plus Trip bought it.
I would love a fix. SNW is set 104 years after S4. We know Yeoh is headed back in time for S31 movie. I think a series is too much, but a 2 hour movie might be doable.
Some would add other stuff, like Kirk's death in Generations, but that never struck a nerve with me the these three did. The end of the Kelvin movies might qualify.
DS9 & VOY did not have epic finales but they were good enough. Everything else is still running.
Being on this… spirited BBS has certainly proven to me that Enterprise is not as well-loved as I believe it ought to be while simultaneously revealing a sizable amount of reverence for Berman-era Trek so, who knows? Beggars can’t be choosers and all that. Maybe people would rally for an Enterprise reunion miniseries if it was done “correctly.”
I am not defining what correctly means, it seems extremely open to interpretation. All I want, personally, is a continuation of the Trip and T’Pol romance and since Ms. Blalock seems reluctant to be in the spotlight again, that seems highly unlikely. (Trip being dead, however? That’s a minor plot inconvenience.)
I didn’t say three seasons. I said ‘PIC season-3-like.’ But regardless, I don’t see a ten part series. As I mentioned earlier, the ENT cast simply does not have the nostalgia value that the TNG cast does. They might do some voiceovers for LDS like Visitor and Shimerman, but that’s probably it.
Well, my viewpoint is that there isn’t much to keep me watching now that PIC has completed its run. In the sense that I will be there as soon as the episodes drop. Even with the dreadful S2 of PIC, I was up watching it in the middle of the night as soon as the latest episodes drop to see what’s next. The rest of the shows don’t have the same sense of urgency. Not even my current fav, Lower Decks, as I just binge it later. Legacy is wait and see for now, since I don’t know when that show is going to happen, or what they are going to do with it in terms of plotlines.
The only things that would be on the level of PIC that would have that sense of urgency for me would be:
So, with neither in the cards, Paramount should not expect viewership at all beyond my annual LD binge and the Section 31 tv movie. I liked listening to the Instagram log entries of Admiral Janeway, but I’m not watching Prodigy. I’m not sure if I’ll watch the final season of Discovery, at least until I’m sure their quest in S5 doesn’t turn into another threat of the season. I’m not sure about SNW outside the crossover episode with LD, even though I did enjoy S1. I’m even less sure about Starfleet Academy. Even if I am supportive of these shows in terms if offering ideas to succeed, there is no serious interest in continuing watching Trek right now.
- The return of Sisko
- An ENT reunion series/tv movie.
The cast of ENT are under no illusions that they wlll ever be asked back by CBS/Paramount for some new show. I was at a convention not too long ago where Anthony Montgomery was speaking. His attitude was simply that things have moved on and TPTB are focused on other things. He wasn't bitter about it at all because he's an actor and he recognizes that that's how real life works. No one is patiently waiting by their phone for a call from CBS.
