Would Jemheddar be capable of understanding what a comfortable house arrest were?

WesleysDisciple

Think their capable of this much creative thinking?
Or think that a Vorta Would have to decide what was and was not reasonable to keep them safe and relatively comfortable.

Dont want to think how difficult it would be if they needed a track to run in or such.

Jem'Hadar don't need food, don't need sleep, don't need chairs, don't need sex, don't need pensions. Their lifestyle is the epitome of Spartan, they were created to fight and die in the name of the Founders.

When a Jem'Hadar infant was found on DS9 he developed to maturity in days and was only interested in fighting, all other concepts that Odo tried to introduce him too were foreign and ultimately it failed as the conditioning is simply too complex. If a Jem'Hadar was left alone in house arrest there wouldn't be much of a house left after a few days as he released his pent up aggression and violent tendencies.

Have you got that disease from Season 1's "Babel"?

Given what we see on the Abandoned, I'd guess "comfy" house arrest would be torture to them. Their need to vent off their aggression and energy just seems to be too great.

I do wonder though whether the Jem ' Hadar were based on an existing species, and what its exact traits would have been like before enhancement and further engineering, or not and they were 100% engineered from scratch.

I think it would depend on the Jem'Hadar's age. The younger Jem'hadar were all impulsive and single-mindedly violent while all the older Jem'Hadar seemed more measured and controlled, some even came across as contemplative and respectful to people they considered their enemies.

True, forgot about that.

By the way, what do (young) Jem'Hadar do when there isn't any fight to pick? Even the Dominion won't have use for them 100% of the time, after all and they probably don't appreciate senseless violence.

I'd imagine older Jem'hadar would keep them in line. They had a pretty strict pecking order and would have learned quickly to obey they senior members of their units. They probably kept busy in their down time with physical training. Also the Jem'Hadar all seemed incredibly knowledgeable so imagine there would have been a great deal of study involved in being a Jem'Hadar soldier

It's honestly no fun at all being a Jem'Hadar. And for one simple reason.

It's not because...
They don't eat.
They don't sleep.
They have no women. Or sex.
They live, at best, about 20 years and are called 'Honored Elders' at that point.

It's the fact they never get to sit.

Their ships have no chairs. And I'm trying to recall an instance of Jem'Hadar actually sitting, whether during the DS9 occupation or on Cardassia or anywhere, and I can't recall a single moment where a Jem'Hadar sits.

I'd be angry all the time if I never had the ability to sit down for a moment.

If a founder wanted to keep someone under house arrest "But keep them comfortable" Would a vorta likely be there to help decide what was and was not reasonably.

Probably. Jem Hadar are there to win battles. I wouldn't expect them to be able to use judgement about keeping sensitive prisoners comfortable. If there are a lot of such prisoners, the Dominion might have a separate prison for them so they could train Jem Hadar with common rules for all of them.
