Worst. Line. Ever.

You guys are too harsh. I like most of the lines on this page (except Data's song). I hated the baby talk in "Friday's Child" ("oohchie coochie coo"). It just sounds so forced that it makes me cringe every time I hear it, and when Spock says those same awful lines in confusion, for once Spock's confusion at human customs isn't cute, but irritating as well. Troi screaming, "Where are you? I have to find you! To HELP you!" in "Night Terrors" is annoying as hell too.

I liked Crusher's confusion in "Best of Both Worlds"...it made Data's reveal of what the message meant more of an "a-ha!" moment. I guess if you've seen the episode enough times you'd get sick of it, but to me it just sounds like a natural assumption about what Picard meant, and Data's clarification was a nice surprise.

Wait, so you really liked "I'm with Starfleet. We don't lie"? Seriously????
And you really liked "Captain, I'm frightened"?

Both of those sucked beyond belief.

Special mention goes to all the sexist lines from TOS, like Spock's explanation that women are victims of Jack the Ripper because they are weaker and more afraid (I don't know it by heart, but it's not like I've tried to remember).:angryrazz:

I think everyone has something different that naws at them. I like most of the lines that have been listed here. Or at least they don't bother me. The boobs line from Insurrection was the only one I can think of that made me cringe.

Yeah, I can't deny "Captain, I'm frightened" is kind of lame and sexist, but I enjoy it in more of a 'so bad it's good' campy way...those poor saps back then unable to come up with a better line for a woman because of society's silly, (now outdated) perceptions of them. :o Oh well, at least Nichelle made it sound kinda cute...I guess. :alienblush:

OK, I'll defend it. I see that as a reasonable line, considering it was said by a 15 year old kid who was trying to act like he thought an adult would act in such a situation. Wesley was idealistic, and was trying to live up to ideals that he attributed to starfleet officers. To be said by Riker or Worf wouldn't work. So, yes, I have no problem with that line in context.

I have to go with Data's "lifeforms" song. That makes me cringe in embarassment every time. Embarassment? At watching Star Trek? That simply should not be happening. Interestingly, my sister, who enjoys watching Trek with me despite not being a fan, found it perfectly acceptable. :)

What about the lines in TNG and VOY that mentioned "women and children", implying a male life is still less valued than a female one even in the 24th century? Sadly, sexual/gender biases are still evident in "modern" Trek. I suppose we've just got to try and block them out and not let them harm our enjoyment :)

I am amazed no one has mentioned the flotation device line from Insurrection, which gets my vote. I groan at the Lifeform song, but I still think it's funny. Which really, sums up Data in Generations as a whole for me.

Ironically, despite wincing at the lifeforms song, I personally love the flotation device joke. I'm odd like that...:)

Not a line per se, but the "watched pot" scene in TNG's "Timescape" gets my vote for most contrived final scene of any modern Trek episode.

I dunno, as a ten year old kid not only did I think adults would lie but I expected they would. To me, the line makes Wesley sound like a naive fool

The Outrageous Okaona;

Wesley "Say goodbye Data"
Data "Goodbye Data"
Forced false laugh by all bridge officers except Worf

Cringeworthy. I know there was a writers strike in season two of TNG, but come on!!

Oh yes, I forgot about that...
