Thanks to everyone who voted on the season five polls. Now on to the penultimate season of TNG. Another really good one, but I think it does have a few duds. You may vote for your THREE LEAST favorites. The top five vote getters will advance to part two.

Winners to date:

Season One: Code of Honor
Season Two: Shades of Gray
Season Three: The Price
Season Four: Suddenly Human
Season Five: Cost of Living

True Q-Boooooring

Birthright-Trek's most pointless two-parter. By this point I was tired of Klingon stories.

Realm of Fear-too much technobabble and a bit bland.

Man of the People
Rascals
A Fistfuls of Datas

Pretty solid season actually. Not many great episodes, but a lot of good ones. Even the bottom 3 aren't real clunkers, except for maybe the Troi episode.

A really good season. Hardly any stinkers to be found.

Rightful Heir ... Makes Kahless look like an idiot.
The Quality of Life ... Yawn!!!
Frame of Mind ... HATE!!! Hate! Hate! Hate!

Aquiel - Boring and I didn't like the guest star.
Birthright Part I - I just couldn't get into Data's surreal dreams, but the appearance by Bashir was nice.
Suspicions - Boring.

I voted (in no particular order)

Quality of Life

Birthright part I

Aquiel

Quality of Life doesn't stand up to repeated viewings, the little robots are pretty crappy looking

Birthright part I is a waste of a two parter we could have devoted a whole episode to Data and where was he in part II?

Aquiel, common, let Geordi get better with the ladies!

Rightful Heir ... Makes Kahless look like an idiot.
The Quality of Life ... Yawn!!!
Frame of Mind ... HATE!!! Hate! Hate! Hate!

Rightful Heir - I think that was the point, or at least a major plot point!

Agree on QoL

I dunno, I liked FoM, nice little opening sequence where they are rehearsing the play. Nice use of the holographic bridge crew in the Psychoanalysis session. Nice whodunnit aspect. I do wish they would have tied the story more into the events leading up to the capture. All we really got were the previous psych session and Worf's demonstration of the bartering ritual.

My favourite season of TNG.

Aquiel is terribly dull though.
A Fistful of Datas falls a bit flat.
Realm of Fear, I used to enjoy, but saw it again recently and was bored out of my mind.

I agree, season six is probably my favorite season. I dunno, I really like Barclay, so Realm of Fear is still quite good to me.

Rascals- Yeah, it made their clothes kid's sized, too. :wtf: The Enterprise gets pwned by Ferengi...that didn't even happen in season 1. More disturbing, did prepubscent Keiko and Miles ever go all the way?

Quality of Life- Zzzzz....

Lessons- Picard gets a one-shot love interest, but his career/duties combined with crisis of the week prevent any long term romance. Sounds like a Dr. Crusher episode almost. It's not horrible episode, but aside from the Ressican flute part, it's forgettable/disposable.

Also ran:
REALM OF FEAR...almost...Barclay has another problem...didn't we already have a transporter fearer on TNG? I liked SHIP IN A BOTTLE where Barclay appears as just another part of the crew...not the focus.

Rascals- Yeah, it made their clothes kid's sized, too. :wtf: The Enterprise gets pwned by Ferengi...that didn't even happen in season 1.

Did it make the clothes smaller? For some reason I thought that the clothes were still full sized and hanging off them in the transporter bay.

I admit that the pwnage by the Ferengi is stupid, but it does give one of the best intentional technobabble sequences.

RIKER: (quickly)
Okay, Morta. The Enterprise computer system is controlled by three primary main processing cores cross linked with a redundant melacortz ramistat and fourteen kiloquad interface modules. The core elements are based on FTL nanoprocessor units arranged into twenty-five bilateral kelilactirals with twenty of those units being slaved to the central heisenfram terminal.

You do know what a bilateral kelilactiral is, don't you?

MORTA: Of course I do, hewmon. I am not stupid.

RIKER: No, of course not.
Now this is the isopalavial interface which controls the main firomactal drive unit.

Don't touch that, you'll blow up the entire firomactal drive.

MORTA: What? Wait. What is... what is a firomactal?
(embarrassed) Just explain it to me.

RIKER: That is the firomactal drive unit... it controls the central ramistat core and also keeps the ontarian manifold within forty thousand KRG.

I thought this season was still very strong and there were only a few true klunkers. I chose Man of the People, Aquiel, Rightful Heir.

Man of the People (yawn)
Rascals (silly)
A Fistful of Datas (interesting idea that didn't quite work)

were my 3 choices.

Man of the People (Sirtis can't Act)
Fistful of Datas (I like Data, but I don't rush to see this episode. "Ancient" west? )
Aquiel (Yawn)

Man of the People (Sirtis can't Act)

It's really weird. For 5 1/2 years I thought she couldn't act either. Then came Face of the Enemy. Then Second Chances. I was hugely impressed with her in both of them, and noticed a general increase in quality the rest of season 6 and 7, plus her appearances on VOY. Somehow putting her in an actual Starfleet uniform seemed to improve her acting abilities...

Well I enjoyed Man of the People and I never had a problem with Sirtis' acting but I do think Face of the Enemy and other episodes you mentioned allowed for us to see how good an actor she was by giving her variety and a chance to flex her muscles as it were.

I think you're right. I never had a problem with her in Voyager and actually welcomed the shows in which she was in. As for Face of the Enemy, she wasn't troi which I think helped a lot. Still, there were some really big cringeworthy Sirtis moments in the series and this episode had most of them.
