World Cup 2010 - South Africa Thread

Back injury.

Lahm will be missing as well, and another source reports Podolski is out too.

Butt will be replacing Neuer.

Somehow methinks that may be Paul's first error.

Yeah, there's not going to be a big screen in the main square of my city: safety reasons. As if crowded pubs are any safer.

Ah well, it'll be great fun tomorrow night. Hopefully.

The German game is a bit incoherent and can we get someone else to play for Jansen? Aogo doesn't seem to be at the top of his game, either. It's unfortunate that half the team is injured or sick. Oh well, let's hope the second half is better.

:vulcan: Jansen should have played more often. Certainly would have been a better choice for the left side than Jerome "always five meters away from his opponent" Boateng.

On one hand I'm a little bit sad about Germany winning because Uruguay played a phenomenal tournament and they might never get the chance again and Germany is always a favourite. On the other hand, it's fucking hilarious that the damn octopus was right again. ;)

I also still say that Forlan is the player of the World Cup.

He didn't look too good in the first half. The second half was much better.

A great and conciliatory end to a fantastic tournament for Germany. Here's hoping they continue playing they way they did in South Africa. :)

Great goal from Forlan, great goals from Germany. That was a brilliant third-place match.

And the octopus was right again.

Now roll on the final!

Günter Netzer's last game as a commentator. I'll miss him, his awesomeness and the rhetorical duels with Gerhard Delling. :(

Uh oh, Spain dominating so far. Looks almost a bit like the game against Germany, though the Netherlands do have a much better defense.

No, I mean in terms of setting the Spanish offside and of not letting them shoot on the goal.

Mmh, I suspected this would be a fairly boring game with just one goal, but instead it's a pretty brutal one in terms of fouls.

Yeah, well, that's what I said. That the game is pretty brutal.

ETA: If you look at the time stamps, you'd see that my first statement was made before it got so ugly and incoherent.

I know. I'd rather see our (german) team play as they did, than see them play like hooligans.

This is getting awful to watch.

Indeed. Not only is the football bad but also brutal. Not worthy of a final (or any game for that matter).
