I assume you are an intelligent person. Think back on watching some cartoons as a kid. Remember those sports episodes where the team with our main characters lost every game, and next thing you know "well folks its time for the championship game!" and they come up with a win. Don't you remember thinking "hmmm if they always lost, why are they in the championship game"??

That's the way inspirational characters make me feel. It triggers the "this makes no sense" alert.

Go rewatch last year's Superbowl. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.

That's the ultimate problem with cynicism. Low odds != no odds.

Cynicism just gives people an easy excuse to give up.

so..... how much more will Wonder WOman get for those places where it is a double feature with Justice League? Will it beat anymore records?

Not any more superhero records for it left to beat.
You mean no more superhero records that it could feasibly beat, right? There are plenty of records that have WW beat.

Edit: Heh, snookered by a quick re-post/delete. :)

Unacceptable. Only formulaic biopics and pretentious, self-congratulatory artsy dramas are allowed to get Oscars. ;)
Kor
Your view of the Oscars is bit skewed, perhaps due to the year you were born. Many years ago, most of the important Oscars went to big budget blockbusters like Lawrence of Arabia, Westside Story, The Lion in Winter. People began to complain that small independent movies were never considered. That gradually changed. Now we see small movies winning Oscars all the time. Every now and then a blockbuster will slip through like Lord of the Rings.

But now complaints like yours are popping up regularly so I suspect after a while the pendulum will swing back to big movies and the cycle will repeat itself. Actually, I think there is a real balance these days and a big budget blockbuster could win best picture, but it has to be really good.

The whole turning her back on humanity bit never felt right for the character that has been in existence for the last 75 years so good to hear they are glossing over that.

Cynicism is just removing the blinders that society has placed on you and seeing the world as it really is. Good/evil/hero/villain are just meaningless feel-good labels created by society and the media to sort the world into an us-them binary grouping. Real life isn't like super hero comics.

Real life is what you create as you walk down the street. If you are seething with cynicism and negativity you are, in some small way, contributing to the problem. It will inform every small decision you make and people will sense the hostility you're projecting and it will just drag things down further. Be the change you want to see in the world. Things like this are true heroism:

Maybe sit down to watch Groundhog Day with Bill Murray to see how much your attitude impacts your perception of reality and what you can get out of life.

Super heroes aren't meant to be realistic, they are meant to be the feel good stories where the good guy is truly good, and always wins and the bad guys are the worst of the worst and always lose.
Yes sometimes it can be fun to see a more realistic take on superheroes, but making that the default is a mistake.
That's not to say that you can't have darker superhero stories or even anti-hero superhero stories, but still in the end the good guys is a good guy and the bad guys are bad and they lose.
Superheroes are meant to be the ones we look up to, the ones who inspire us to be better than we are.
When things start to go bad in the real world, then it's more important than ever for our heroes remain pure, heroic figures who can inspire us and remind us that world can be a good place.
