Wonder Woman 2 Anticipation Thread

Looks like it's a flop.

The disappointing sequel highlights not only the dire state of the live-action superhero genre in film, but the dire state of Hollywood filmmaking as a whole.

New York Magazine.

I've lost all interest in this movie now. I expect patty Jenkins to lose the star wars movie soon too.

It’s out now in the UK. Problem is there are no cinemas open to see it. That’ll put a snag in things.

I'll watch and make up my own mind...........critics and me disagree quite often. The only spoiler I know was via Graham Norton and not a big deal. I just want to be entertained for 2 hours.

HBOMax has released the first 3 minutes of the movie on Youtube.
It has a 67 on Metacritic with 17 positive reviews, 8 mixed and 2 negative. This is the second highest rating of any DCEU movie so far, with only the first Wonder Woman ahead of it with a 76.
For reference the here are the others:
Man of Steel: 55
Batman v Superman: 44
Suicide Squad: 44
Justice League (theatrical): 45
Aquaman: 55
Birds of Prey: 60

Yeah, I really, really can't see them taking her movie away just because this got a few mediocre reviews. Hell, they weren't even bad enough to get the movie out of the "positive" ranking on Metacritic.
I just checked and it's also got an 85% on Rotten Tomatoes with 89 reviews.
I can't imagine how poor Patty Jenkins career could possibly recover from a these kind of reviews.

I sitll think the move to releasing on HBOMAX stinks..at least as far as REALLY promoting female leads and directors, especially for higher budget productions.

I REALLY wanted to support the theater release, but we have HBOMAX from ATT, and Xfinity just fully added the HBOMAX app, so we will just watch it.

Will they have any way to see how "successful" this will be?

Also, did WB have to pay for the Wonder Woman Doritos bags, or did Doritos have to pay to show the WOnder WOman image? Those type of things could help promote the movie -- if it doesn't cost much (or anything) to WB.

I will check out the preview with the family soon.

^ You forgot Shazam! It's at 71 on Metacritic, making it the second highest rated DCEU movie (and deservedly so), and bumping Wonder Woman 1984 to third.
Dammit, I felt like I might have been forgetting one, but I couldn't think of what it was. So I guess that makes WW84 third, but that's still pretty good.

No doubt. In my estimation, there have only been three good DCEU movies to date:

I'm pretty confident WW84 will join their ranks.

Despite the fact that I acknowledge the movies' faults I actually enjoyed the Snyder movies (including JL) more than these 3...
