Wonder Woman 2 Anticipation Thread

*Sigh*
Honestly, at this point just write off this year and reschedule all the remaining movies for 2021. It's not like any of the movies filming this year are likely to meet 2021 releases anyway.

What happens when COVID is still around in 2021? Time to just put it on the internet.

Jason

It's going to still be around in 2021, the virus itself won't be going anywhere ever, it's just going to be a matter of getting a vaccine and getting it under control so it's not killing 100,000s of people.

Well, Dune has now moved to October 2021 leaving this the last big film to come out in 2020. Not that there will be any cinemas open to release it in the way things are going.

Variety is reporting that Warner Bros. is considering moving Wonder Woman to June 2021; that, or keep the December 25 date, then release the movie on HBO Max in early January in order to drive up subscribers.

Audiences will pay to see this no matter the venue. Studios need to realize that even before the virus, innumerable people were increasingly disenchanted with the traditional theatre experience. Personally, I do not need the theatre to see and hopefully enjoy the WW sequel.

I agree. Overpriced snacks, rude/annoying people. 3D that is often just not good. I've got a big tv, home cinema set, a comfy couch and craftbeer. Gimme that over theaters.

I agree, but I remember the argument against this back before Mulan was released that the 30 dollar price tag was too much unless you had a family to watch it with. I would argue that with snacks and transportation cost that 30 dollars would be a good price for even two people. Also, if the 30 dollars came with a digital download or even a reduction on the cost of buying a digital copy then that would be an incentive as well.

They might aswell hang on a little longer. Move it to 2021 and if things still aren't good then drop it on streaming.

But as soon as a movie goes on streaming it's right their for piracy. Gerald Butler's Greenland was among the many delayed movies, and I guess they had enough of waiting as Amazon Prime has just put it on last week. And right away I saw there was a perfect 1080p copy online for free. And right next to it were films like New Mutants too, also a perfect copy.

I think WB would actually like to make some money. As there are plenty of people out there like you guys saying "scew the theatre, I'd rather stay at home." But they won't be paying for it any other way either.

What annoyed me about that was them shortly releasing it on iTunes and other VOD services without telling anyone.

Economically speaking, you guys push for an on-demand release are crazy. WW84 was set to be one of, if not THE highest grossing release of 2020. The originl had the highest domestic gross of the enitre DC Film Universe.

i think the 80's theme would have helped pre-release buzz a lot in the US.

If AVengers Endgame or Black Panther 2 had been in the same predicament, it would have been just as silly to NOT have them be a tentpole of the movie revival / post-Covid era.

Had there not been Covid, we would have the year of the Woman ACtion Hero, and there would be a lot of buzz about how Mulan, Black WIdow and WOnder Woman 84 would shake things up.

Forgive me; at first I misread that as "crap" beer.

Ok, here's the thing..... I'm a craftbeer man, I have a youtube channel where I review them even. But guilty pleasure?? A can or two of those high abv macro lagers a big bag of potatochips and badgood movies. :D
