Continuity or fun story, tough decision. I'll go with fun story with Wonder Woman kicking ass, Alex. Continuity is the death of fun.
Plus, why limit making a good movie because of a single line from a bad one. Nobody would go along with that logic.

Star Trek fans would.Plus, why limit making a good movie because of a single line from a bad one. Nobody would go along with that logic.
I would rather have seen them do a smaller time jump to the '20s or maybe even '60s.

Eh, fake issues. Why doesn't Superman play god and fix the world's problems? Why does a multi-billionaire spend so much time dressed as a flying rat beating up thugs in alleys when he could do far more good just as Bruce Wayne? It's a comic book movie for entertainment not philosophical drivel for navel gazers. You know I wonder if they will bring up things such as her not doing anything about Hitler,Vietnam the Korea War etc. Lots of bad things happened between WW I and 1984 and I wonder if her playing things low key will be part of the plot. I can easy see some Luke Skywalker issues come up such as him hiding out as the First Order gets created if they just say she did nothing because she was sad.

Eh, nothing is necessary except that the film be entertaining. This whole 80’s setting seems unnecessary. Just set it after JL.
There is that plot point that she was supposed to be sulking for a 100 years, but I suppose you’re right.
Maybe you answered your own question, maybe those were powers she just had against Ares? The bigger problem is how in BvS and JL she didn't show any of the Deus Ex Machina powers she had in the fight with Ares. Perhaps WW84 will explain how she lost those powers.

What I'm asking is: what if she lost those extra powers after her purpose as the killer of Ares had been fulfilled? I'm not saying that's what happened, but I am saying that would be a reason.Doesn't make sense. Why use them only against him? That forcefield she had that disintegrated anything that hit it (when he was throwing shrapnel at her) would've come in real handy against Steppenwolfs' Axe and her energy redirecting would've been good against Doomsdays' energy attack.
I don’t see her not doing anything for a 100 years that big of a deal. For her that’s nothing.
I just think after JL would be a more exciting prospect. I assume Bruce would be getting Watchtower constructed.
I wonder if maybe she has spent all this time sort of doing the "Batman" thing

Yes.
As far as I known she and Superman seem to be the only non-hooded or masked DC heros I can think of.
