Women’s issues - bodily functions and such

Reuse used disposables?!? That's inhumane. But donating my reusables to a jail is a good idea, especially if the women have a way to wash them out. Thank you for the suggestion.

If anyone who still uses feminine hygiene products is curious about reusables, let me know. There are many, many pros to doing so, one of the biggest ones is environmental. I am happy to discuss this if anyone is interested.

Reusables for women in prisons would be pretty great; it would reduce some of the burden for-profit prisons place on them and help environmentally as well.

Am considering donating mine to the local jail. Inmates are only given a ridiculous amount and have to REUSE them. Niece did an eight month stint and the other inmates were actually ok but the administration was horrible and far more interested in revenge than rehabilitation.
I have never heard of reusable pads or a cup for that matter. How on earth would one re-use it? Though admittedly I have run out and um wadded up a ton of paper to get by. Gross but needs must. Oh and that reminds me of a really embarrassing moment when our drains got blocked. I swear to God I rarely flush any kind of sanitary product but... this guy who was cleaning out our drains had that big cork screw thingy to get through mainly tree roots and he's talking to hubby and as he's talking he's casually getting this panty liner off the drain snake. I made no eye contact after that :sigh:

Oh, yeah, there are websites that teach you how to sew your own reusables. Uh, no.

I got screwed on the cup. They had it before I started and took it away. Then AFTER I went through the change, they brought them back. I'd have been all over that, especially for the last part of the week long deal.

I did a read and they are inserted right?? I'm just weird that way. I remember trying to get a tampon in and reading the instructions and I was all but swinging from the imaginary chandelier and the blessed thing wouldn't go in. Not to be indelicate but later in my life I managed given the mechanics of... yeah. However pulling a tampon all swollen out, I hate that feeling. Not so sure I could do the cup.

I used to have trouble occasionally retrieving those contraceptive sponges so I can see maybe a little struggle with a cup. I’ve only heard of them in the last few years.

Yeah, I never really liked using tampons, which was another reason I didn't embrace the cup. If I had been working still, I think I would have tried harder. But I appreciated my fabric pads. I was already doing laundry, so a few more pieces in the load weren't a big deal to me. Again, though, I think it is about choice. If I had only fabric and no choice to use disposables, I think I would have resented having to take care of them. But since I moved from disposables to fabric, I embraced the choice.

I always felt tampons to be far more uncomfortable than the cup. Especially when they are too dry. The cup does require a little bit more...intimacy..you fold it in half, shove it right on up there, and let it open up. I've read some women struggle to get it out, but I've always found that easy; you just bear down and can actually push it almost all the way out with the vaginal muscles.
The first time I removed it it did make a perfect and hilarious popping noise that made me laugh so hard I dropped it and had to clean blood up from all over the floor and sanitize the cup again.
I also like I don't have to empty it frequently like tampons. My first day I have a heavy flow but only need to empty the cup twice. After that it's once a day. I mean, it's not a joyous thing, but I like it best. I really want to try the period underwear, but they're so expensive.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!!! How exciting!

As far as your headache, you might try making sure your electrolytes are sufficient. Take some salt and some magnesium, maybe.

I have been trying to find a way to enter text in this little box that doesn't sound condescending or stupid. The fact is, I am reminded about just how must shit women must go through on a daily basis, and be treated like garbage from a great deal of society. All I can say is breastfeed where you want; I won't stare or become angry. If I'm you're boss, go to the bathroom when needed. And you need some medical leave? Kid or just a day off? Go. If you need supplies, send me to the store, I don't care--roommates, girlfriends, friends, mom, whatever. If you need cash, it's yours. You deserve support. I cannot take away the pain, but I sure as hell don't need to make life any harder than it already is.

Here's my big thing now.
Try to buy a sport bra that doesn't have the Peep-Show removable pads.
I don't desire to give peep-shows.
And the idiotic "removable cups"!! don't wash a couple of different peep-show bras together because the cups will end up all over the washing machine and then you get to try to determine which cup fits which bra.
Then you get to play around for 15 minutes stuffing the removed cup back into the correct pocket, don't include the 5 minutes trying to find the opening where the pad slides into.

Try to put on the peep show bra and the peep show removable cups end up rolled away or folded inside the pocket that holds it, then you can spend ten minutes trying to correct that mess. Or while you are doing your activity the pad bunches up or slides, inside the pocket, forming a scrunched up lump somewhere within the pocket. ( yea, the pad is like three inches, teardrop shaped or a perfect circle, and the pocket is like shaped to include up into the shoulder strap or the strap around the back. ( invented and desinged by men)

I don't sew but it has got to be more work to make the peep show bras than just sewing the pad in, so why are the non-peep show bras way more expensive?
Is there a reason Other than giving a peep show, FOR the peep show bras?
I participate in one of the most sweaty sports out there, fencing, and I STILL see no reason for the peep show bras.
Okay, done now
(Maybe)
