With no Space Seed, how can there be a "Khan Movie"?

Of course it did. And I was just the one daring enough to repeat it. My posts might be ignored in such matters, so I felt the need to repeat myself again to try and get people to stop criticising a movie that may or may not even have Khan in it.

No - now you're misunderstanding. Feel the need all you like, but you don't have to act on it.

Here's something to keep in mind - pay special attention to the second phrase in the first sentence. Once you've said a thing, then it has been said and does not require further repetition, whether it garners a response or no.

Armchair critics? Armchair critics are the one's who buy the expensive tickets and it's the writer's responsibility to do something creative to put those butts in the movie theater seats.

Exactly. You can't tell me that screenwriters sit around and say, "You know, let's not exert ourselves with this big budget movie. Today we shall be lazy and do something totally uncreative."

Every movie being made out there (except perhaps a contractual obligation project like the 1994 "Fantastic Four" movie) is being made to the best of the participants' abilities. Whether they succeed or not is open to individual viewers' opinions and tastes, but there's nothing "lazy" about the art of writing or film making.

I don't think they sit around and determine what to write without exerting much effort. Writers know they are responsible for drawing patrons into the theaters much more these days than ever before, because of the cost of a night out. They also know we're not the same type of audience we were fifteen years ago. Even the zombie movies have to have a good plot nowadays to get somebody to attend the movie once. And their best critic is the person who attends the movie, not someone whose paid to.

I was not spamming. I suggest you go elsewhere to get your kicks. I will say what I like as long as it is in accordance to regulations.

If they use Khan, and i think thats a big if.....

It can be totally different from Space Seed/Wrath

I like the idea of blending 2 episodes....

Have the Narandas entry change things so that Botnay Bay gets to either Sigma Iota (the gangster planet) or Maga Roma (the Roman Empire planet) and the ship reawakens him so they have a soft landing. Add in a contact with someone else spacefaring but easily beat- Ala Ferengi to get greater technology.

He takes over and has been camped out there for 20-25 years growing augments and taking over.

A fed ship gets caught on a first contact mission and the E comes to the rescue.

Ummm, He's the moderator of this forum, he's not going anywhere. (just saying)

Mr. Sharak, you go right on quoting regulations.

;)

M'Sharak was offering you good advice, and in good faith. And yeah, even though I'm colour blind, my eyes detect a slight Mod colour variation in M'Sharak's name font.

I apologise for the hostility. Not because he is a moderator but because it's the right thing for me to do.
Thanks friends.

There are an infinite number of ways for it to work out. For all we know the Narada ran across Botany Bay and in doing so, activated the sleeping chambers at just the right time to awaken Khan and crew, which later allowed for them to establish an empire for themselves long before Kirk or Earth knew about any of these Augments.

I take a break the place gets a makeover.

I'm new but I'm gonna assume this is a joke....haha

It's been 25 years since the timelines diverged. My guess is that the Klingons discovered the SS Bontany Bay not long after George Kirk was killed - and that by now Khan's secretly ruling the Klingon Empire.

Well, that is a relatively plausible idea (so it's unlikely to be in the next movie ;)).

Its seems to me there are a number of things Prime Spock HAS to tell the Alt Federation about and Khan is one of them. So if he hasn't been found yet, he will be at some stage. The only question is whether someone decides it will be interesting enough to make a movie about.

We must have Khan in the next movie because uhhhh....because uhhhhh....yeah, I got nothing.

PR value for starters.

To normal folk, "Khan" does not mean RAWR RED ALERT UNCREATIVE HACKS DESTROYING STAR TREK!!!11!!! It just means, "yeah wasn't he some badass space guy...? Hey the last movie was good, maybe this will be worth checking out."

That kind of appeal to normal folk is how we got Kirk, Spock and the Enterprise back on the big screen. They're going for whatever has the most mass name recognition, and Star Trek really doesn't have a whole lot of options in that department. At this point, it's Klingons, Khan or maybe the Borg. (And remember, this is about normal folks - they don't know which of those thrown together means canon violation, or what a canon violation is, or why they should care.)
