Winona Ryder is Amanda

Interesting list! Counting the two Matrix sequels as one film because they were filmed at the same time, I take it?

The actors playing Kirk, Chekov, Sulu and Uhura would barely make a dent in most people's radar. This cast is hardly what you'd call all-star. One can only assume therefore that they have been cast on the basis of their talent and ability to channel the original actors in those parts. Which bodes very well, IMHO.

And price. Let's not forget price.

I like this casting, but JJ is beginning to thread a very fine line. With so many high profile actors

Huh? It seems like only a few days ago that the complaint on this board was "So were's all the high profile guest stars we were promised?" ;)

These days Winona's more "notorious" than "high profile".

Actually, Australia's doing well re the high profile stuff: Eric Bana - and now Chris Hemsworth. Hemsworth might be a nobody in the US, but he's very well known (and popular) in Australia and UK for his long-running role in "Home and Away".

Oh... my... god.

Run for the hills! Why didn't someone tell me he was from that? Ugh. Loathsome.

*cough* Ahem. A excellent resume to play the dad to the William Shatner's character. anyway.

Re: Winona Ryder, Chris Hemsworth, and Evil Incarnate

This guy will probably be on screen for three minutes, tops, as part of a flashback. He could be played by just about anyone. No worries.

I'm pretty sure people on this BBS want this film to fail.

I'm sure there are but I hope it's an unfair generalization to assume so. I know I'm looking forward to the movie and hope it's at least as entertaining as Galaxy Quest.

Winona Ryder?

"Spock, you're half human. You're emotions will like totally surface. Most totally surface."

I wouldn't completely knock the cast.

Bana is definitely borderline "A-lister" and probably will be in a few years.

I see him as being about where Bale was five or six years ago.

I thought Eric Bana was a hot property who then declined a bit after the lukewarm reception of his superhero movie. Bale's done rather better out of his foray into comic film.

There's little doubt that Eric Bana's one of the most prominent names attached to this film, but still... I like him. I really enjoyed Munich. I remember keeping my eye on Daniel Craig while watching the movie, because I knew he was cast as the new Bond... I never would have guessed Eric Bana would in turn make a Star Trek role.

Bana's definitely the bigest star of the bunch.

Even so, when I tell people that Bana will be in the next Star Trek film, there's a pause, and I have to follow with "He's the guy who played the Hulk" or some other descriptor.

Eh, if it's a small role, I can see Keanu in it. Just have him sedated and bored and it'd pass for profound and wise... or so the success The Matrix has proven.

It just might work, ya never know. ;)

Wouldn't it be funny if he got the role and against all expectations, he nailed it? :rommie: Hey, maybe he's just never been challenged. His movie roles do seem to be pretty...thin...

I'll bet more people still know who Ryder is than know Bana. She was quite the generational icon, she was.

Agreed.

But she'll probably only be in it for a few minutes, and might even be unrecognizable, depending on how they decorate her.
