Will they create a new Batmobile?

not to mention the damn open canopy. All it did was unrealistically jump off a hand of giant statue, then after it was frozen by freeze we didn't see it until Barbera entered the cave. The thing looked like it was going to fall apart at 40 miles per hour.

The tumbler is the right vehicle for a war on a crime ridden city. It's not meant to look pretty, it's meant to do its job.

Functioning over Style

Anyone who thinks the Tumbler is somehow more conspicuous than Clooney's neon day-glo insane-o-mobile needs a reality check.

^ Especially since it glows in the dark. And what the hell was up with Clooney's Bat Turbine? There were four or five flames on both sides of the damn thing! Though I do like the Forever Batmobile.

I liked how it was a one-seater with an OPEN CANOPY!

 And yeah the flames/taillamps was absurd.

The first Keaton Batmobile was by far the best.

Now that Batman is actively being hunted by the law he'll have to be much more stealth oriented. I suspect developing a smaller, sleaker Batmobile will keep Lucius Fox busy for a while.

Except that Lucius resigned because of what Bruce/Batman had him come up with to find the Joker.

Why do people keep thinking this.

Lucius said, "Consider this my resignation as long as [the cellular SONAR/spying thing] is at Wayne Enterprises, I won't be."

Entering his name destroyed the SONAR/Cellular thing. So, Lucius stays.

Oh yeah, I forgot; thank you.

There's an interesting take on the Batmobile and Batman's need for one on the 'Net: The Batmobile: What A Pain In The Ass!

Here's an excerpt:
What a fucking hassle it must be for Batman to get around.

He has two primary modes of transportation: swinging from gothic clock towers on his Batline, and cruising around Gotham in the Batmobile. Sure, he’s got a Batwing and a Batjet and a Batcopter and even a Bat-Segway, but mostly Batman relies on his ride to get from point A to point B.

Now, the Batmobile is a seriously tricked-out car, and you can’t blame the guy for wanting to drive it, but it must be a serious pain in the ass dealing with the Batmobile every night.

As anyone who lives in or near a big North American city knows, urban driving can be a maddening experience. Heavy traffic, one-way streets, swerving buses, crazy-ass taxi drivers, potholes, inadequate signage, kamikaze bike messengers, oblivious pedestrians – don’t even get me going about parking. The shit is hard enough to deal with in a normal city in a normal car. Now just imagine trying to navigate Gotham City’s rat nest of streets and alleys in an extra-wide custom hot rod with a wonky torque converter and limited visibility.

Funny opinion that makes sense? Or is he just full of hot air?

I always imagined Gotham is kind of 'shut down' at night. Too much crime, too dangerous, to be out past dark in 80% of the city for anyone who doesn't have to be. The Batman would take advantage of deserted side streets, industrial areas, alleys, etc. to get around for the most part.

Go figure, right?

I know a lot of people love the Burtonmobile (I certainly did as a kid), but now I much prefer the Tumbler (except for the stupid shooting position).

At least they sort of explained that in The Dark Knight - it puts you onto the escape pod, ready to eject at a moment's notice. It's still pretty stupid and unnecessary, but I liked that neat little bit of continuity.

Here are some more pictures of the Clooney Batmobile. The specs say it's 33 feet long.

Here is a page with a Dutch concept car. It came up when I did a search for "batmobile".

Ugh...let's not even joke about that one.

I personally love the Tumbler and will be pissed not to see it again.

That said, I also love the Burtonmobile.

So when will someone use their photo manipulation skills to somehow marry elements from both the Tumbler and the 89 Batmobile into something badass?

Or just to maybe put some fins on the Tumbler? Or something?

\S/

Probably a bit too cartoonish/comic-y, but I'm not much of an automotive designer. I essentially took a picture of the Tumbler and drew over it, making it more car-like and sleeker looking. . . and of course adding a touch of bat-livery.

Right

"She was built as a bridging vehicle. During combat, two of these would jump over a river, towing cables. "

thats what I'm excited about for batman 3, the gadgets and gear. New cave, new car(second tumbler if they go that route) or a new car
Glad you caught that bit... about it being a pair. They couldn't have ever tested the bridge unless there were two vehicles, could they?

That said... people keep talking about "THE Batmobile." In the comics, there have been many, and usually more than one at the same time.

Some have been basic automobiles with a few extra gadgets... some are practically RVs with "mobile crime labs" in the back... and some are "tanks" like the one seen in "The Dark Knight Returns" which was a major influence in the one we see in "Batman Begins."

I'm hoping that we get the second Tumbler, but we also get a few other alternatives.

What I DO NOT WANT TO SEE is dumb-ass, non-functional design like we saw in the prior movie series. The first Burton Batmobile wasn't a bad design, though it was really impractical (versus the Tumbler which looked like it would be reasonable to operate in real life!) The 1960's TV Batmobile was basically a modified Lincoln Futura... not terribly efficient as transportation, but then again, that show wasn't intended to be believable, it was a SPOOF.

I'd like to see at least three "Batmobiles" from this point out... with one being, basically, an "armored sportscar," with another being a modified "Tumbler" design (but not 100% identical to the original... modifications would be based upon real field experience). I'd like to see one or two "motorcycles" and a boat (not a conventional motorboat, however... and not a flashy "Batboat"... just something for him to use, stealthily, when navigating the rivers and near-offshore areas near the city).

If he gets a flying vehicle, I'd hope it's an ultra-light, military-type "silent helicopter" or something in the vein of a powered hang-glider. No goofy "bat-symbol fighter jet" and NO WEAPONS (another thing Burton did which pissed me off!)
