Will Saru ever get a romance?

Considering the franchise's track record with how it handles romantic relationships, I am in no rush to see Saru paired off, excepting a one-off a la Kirk.

Fair points but I don't see the need for Saru to be in a romantic relationship.

The way I would look at it is that Saru is typically one of those "all business" type of characters, and seeing him in a relationship could allow us to see a side of him that has heretofore been hidden from the camera.

Maybe he left Kaminar before he had the sex talk with his daddy?

Although... As Kelp eaters.... They seem like amphibians... So underwater sex without contact?

If he's a fish, some what fish, transitioning from fish...

He goes looking for for a mound of unfertilized eggs, and then sprays on them.

Physical intimacy may not be a thing, and social communing may not be a thing either if you're not exactly sure who you are breeding with, because you didn't see her laying those eggs.

Of course Vulcans during their blood fever take what they want without asking.

There's a word for that.

Is a Kelpian stronger than a Vulcan?

Faster.

Can't fight her off, but if he can get up to a gallop, she's in the rear view mirror on the horizon quickly.

Saru has one younger sister, and no mother.

So it's like in finding Nemo where mommy lays 12 thousand eggs.

Other wise Saru would have 11,999 siblings who are all the same age.

Egg eating predators?

I will be a bit pedantic and distinguish between relationship and romantic relationship. Seeing Saru outside of office hours in a friendship or relationship would be another way to explore. I guess my feeling is that it doesn't have to be romantic.

I don't think they should be. While the UFP provides an overarching culture for persons to be normalized into so that there can be some kind of normalized framework for a relationship, the specific needs of each species are going to be very great. While there have been a couple of human-vulcan relationships, those are going to be extremely difficult, for instance. And what about all the fights over the thermostat between Andorians and.. well, anyone else?
If you date an Andorian wear a thermal, if you want to date a Vulcan find a V'tosh katur dating site or accept said Vulcan bond is a good reason not to use 'he/she does not understand me', same for dating any telepath. Plus if Worf and Jadzia can do it then so can any two 'humanoids'.
