Screw that. Where's my hover board? We're 15 years into the 21st century. WHERE ARE THE FLYING CARS?!
Um, sorry. I was trying an ollie and, uh, well, I'm not as balanced as I thought and mean old Mr Sutter won't let us on his roof to get it back.

They are here but unfortunately they look a bit like airplanes with the dumb looking wings. Basically they are airplanes that can drive like a car when they land. Big deal I says.
Delorean? Give me a time train!!!!We're 15 years into the 21st century. WHERE ARE THE FLYING CARS?!

They're not in widespread commercial use, and they surely can't hover. Nope, that don't count.
Either make a deLorean fly through VTOL or get off the pot, I say.

Ive been thinking about this a lot since Nimoys death. They have a special magazine devoted to him and trace his career from its earliest point to its last. I don't even think Deforest got something like this for his work as McCoy when he died. It got me wondering if Quinto will get such a send off even in 40 years and be remembered for playing a version of Spock that took a hold of a generation of Sci fi fans. There are a few reasons I think he wont. Number one there is so much sci fi now that NuTrek really doesn't distinguish itself a whole lot especially since it focuses on action and less on drama and story. Also at the point we are at in the movies NuSPock is not really much like the original Spock and doesnt have that cool calculating manner Spock had in TOS that made him a hit with fans. Another reason may be that Quinto will most likely be leaving the role after the 3rd movie to move onto something else and there will be only 6 hours of NuSpock compared to nearly a hundred hours of Nimoys version. Basically I think as a icon Spock will alsways be Nimoys and anyone after will just be playing the character and not have that same hold on the character.
Nimoy was typecast for years as Spock. This won't be true for Quinto.
Similarly, I expect Adam West will be remembered as Batman, but Christian Bale won't.

I think Christian bale just might be. Well maybe not hes done some good acting since like in American Hustle.
For me, Christian Bale will always be the guy from American Psycho.![]()
For me, Bale can't hold a bat-candle to West or Keaton.
Probably because there is a more fragmented pop culture.Nimoy was typecast for years as Spock. This won't be true for Quinto.

Dude was nominated for an Academy Award for that movie. People who are typecast generally aren't nominated for vastly different roles. Ergo, I don't think Bale is typecast, nor suffering from it.
As well, we're a lot more forgiving of typecasting these days than in the 60s (see: Hugh Jackman forever as Wolverine, but he still keeps getting non-X-Men parts and invitations to Broadway). If TOS started 10 years ago with 30 yr-old Nimoy in the Spock role, he probably would've seen more doors open at this point.
